"I came to WindClan as a young kit with my loner mother, excited to be a warrior, But when I truly realized how the Clans treat their cats, I knew I had to do something about it. Shadowstar was an elderly, intimidating, large shadow-gray tom with ragged fur and dark, copper eyes.

Shadowstar was the first leader of modern Reborn BloodClan, and its second to last leader. He was born as Shadow along with his older brother Nightmare and younger siblings Sage and Ebony to Wish and Raven, two loners. After their father never returns from hunting, Wish decides to take refuge in the Clans and journeys her and her kits to WindClan, though only Shadow survived the journey. When they arrive in WindClan, Larchstar offers them refuge. Eventually, Shadow learns about Clan life and asks to stay in the Clan, where Wish agrees. Wish becomes a warrior named Wishdream, and Shadow wanted to keep his name as an apprentice and to not have it be changed until he became a warrior, loving his name and not wanting to change it yet, and was assigned to Ivyfern for training. When he finished his training, he became a warrior, Shadowtail.

During his time as an apprentice, Shadow learned about BloodClan, which the Clans strongly promoted against. Interested, he dug into more research about the Clan. He was afraid to express his approval toward some of the rules and decided to investigate to find remaining members of the Clan or their descendants. From his investigation, he met Slash, a rogue who was a descendant of a former member, and slowly befriended him over time. He asked Slash to help him fight against the Clans, for BloodClan should remain superior. Slash refused, believing that it would be too risky for his life.

Back in the Clan, Wishdream became mates with Lakeleap and she gave birth to Splashkit, Lightkit, Nettlekit, and Bluekit. Shadowtail did not approve of his mother's relationship, for he believed he had betrayed his father. When the four kits were apprentices, Shadowtail killed them, then Lakeleap and Wishdream. His apprentice, Maplepaw, expressed strong disapproval towards her mentor and tried to reconcile him, but he killed her as well. Furious, Larchstar exiled Shadowtail and he decided to take refuge in SkyClan, where he met and fell in love with Yellowshade, a warrior, and he manipulated and gained trust of her and Jaggedstar by claiming his name was Shadowheart. Shortly after, Yellowshade became pregnant with his kits and the truth about his identity was discovered by her and Jaggedstar, where he was quickly exiled from the Clan as well. Yellowshade went into premature labor from the stress and gave birth to Shadowkit, Silverkit, and Firekit. Shadowtail immediately seeks for and finds Slash and his rogue group, where Shadowtail decides to start his own Clan with him, Reborn BloodClan, as Shadowstar, with the intention of uniting the Clans together under his leadership. Sometime later, he found an injured and pregnant rogue, Thunderstorm, and nursed her back to health, and brought her to the Clan. The two were implied to become mates, and he was with her when she gave birth to Tigerkit, Thornkit, and Falconkit, which he intended to become their adoptive father, though they were stillborn.

After his death by Bluestar, then Blueshadow, Shadowstar was sent to the Place of No Stars as Thunderstorm took over the Clan to get revenge on Bluestar. However, he ended up masking himself with an unknown residence as he plotted his revenge against his descendant. Holding WindClan hostage, Shadowstar threatens the Clans with his return, but is killed by Bluestar once again and fades away forever.

Interesting Facts

• Shadowstar shares similarities with his great-granddaughter, Bluestar:
  • Both were the only one of their siblings to survive up to warriorhood. Shadowstar's siblings, Nightmare, Sage, and Ebony, died while Wish ventured them all to WindClan. Bluestar's siblings, Lightkit and Mistykit, both died shortly after birth along with their mother, Skyflower.
  • Both were exceptionally bonded to one parent who primarily raised them. Shadowstar was closely bonded with his mother, Wishdream, and Bluestar was closely bonded with her father, Brightclaw.
  • Both were originally loners before entering the Clans, though both of their fathers had connections to the Clans. Brightclaw was originally a member of SkyClan before his return. Though Bluestar was born in the Clans, she was not raised with any ties toward them. Raven, Shadowstar's father, was said to be a brother of a Clan member. More information about Raven's familial life before Shadowstar is unknown.
