Redstar is a thick-furred ginger-and-white tabby tom with yellow eyes.
Redstar was a ShadowClan leader. He was born as Redkit to Emberlight and Duskwater alongside his siblings, Goosekit and Leafkit. His apprenticeship was delayed due to a greencough outbreak that severely affected the Clan. Eventually, he was apprenticed to Sleekstorm as Redpaw. As a warrior, Redmoon became troubled by the visions that Slatepaw was recieving and subsequently killed Whitewhisper in order to prevent the visions from becoming reality. His crime was discovered by Goosesplash who ordered him to leave ShadowClan before she exposed the truth.
Redmoon went into exile with his close allies, who ambushed and killed Runningstar and Swiftcrow after they secretly met with Brackenstar. Upon his return to ShadowClan, Redmoon accused Goosesplash of killing Whitewhisper and declared himself leader instead of her. Although StarClan did not grant him his nine lives, he claimed to have recieved them and rose to leadership as Redstar, appointing Breezesky as his deputy. When Leafshine confided in Breezesky and Icefur that Redstar had killed Whitewhisper, the three cats accompanied Redstar to the Moonstone during a blizzard. Despite being denied his lives again, Redstar was warned of Leafshine's plan to kill him. Upon waking up, he mortally wounded his brother and escaped into the snowstorm, where he died due to the cold. He ascended to StarClan in spite of his crimes due to the nature of the prophecy.

Personality and traits[]
Redstar is described as spiteful, cunning, manipulative and paranoid. Although his cold fury ignites fear in many, it is his logical, calculating nature that drives his ambitions. Redstar is plagued by the need to control a situation in order to remove uncertainty, and is seen as aggressive and power-hungry as a result. Despite this, he almost always displays a calm, thoughtful persona that many cats can see as a leader and protector.
Redstar is prone to rare outbursts of anger, culminated from controlling his rage over long periods of time, as evidenced by the death of Snowhare. He is capable of violence, although he much prefers for others to do it for him. He has high expectations of those who swear loyalty to him, but will treat them with enough respect to make them feel necessary to his cause. Many of his followers fight over his attention, despite Redstar himself finding the behaviour detestable.
Along with his volatile nature, Redstar separates his own thoughts and feelings from others as much as possible. According to Slatestone, he could never truly grasp his own reality.

Redmoon loved Whitewhisper from afar. His infatuation was well-known within ShadowClan, and many of his Clanmates joked that he should just ask her to be his mate already. Despite this, Redmoon was always nervous around her and struggled to interact with her normally. After finding out about Slatepaw's vision of his death, Redmoon wholeheartedly believed that Whitewhisper was his future murderer. Knowing that she could stand in the way of Slatepaw's omen and fearing for his life, Redmoon lured her out of camp under the pretext of talking with her. He killed her quickly from behind, unable to look her in the eyes. Faced with what he had done, Redmoon was distraught and would not emotionally recover. What his Clanmates assumed was grief was, in reality, the soul-crushing guilt that threatened to overwhelm him. Following Whitewhisper's death, Redmoon would never be the same cat again. As the moons progressed, Redmoon avoided talking about her on most occassions, although he would mutter justifications to himself from time to time. As he lay dying, he hoped that Whitewhisper would forgive him in StarClan and stand by his side. However, Whitewhisper would later stand against him in his war, leading him to feel betrayed as he believed that she owed him her loyalty
