Appearance[]
Flowerstar is an extremely tall, pure white she-cat with folded ears. Her eyes are pale green. Normally, she is very heavy-set. Her fur is long and fluffy. The fur around her face resembles a spider mum flower.
She is currently emaciated from living in a famine.
Personality[]
Flowerstar is much more of a follower than a leader. She's always been shy but being Spiderstar's deputy for five years made her scared to speak her mind. She would have never chosen to be deputy if she had a choice, but she secretly loves the respect and niceness she gets, even if it is out of fear. She is very motherly and has always loved being a mentor. She is loyal to her clan and also resourceful and wise. She hates fights and is a coward against any action that puts her in a bad light. She is also very indecisive since the decisions were always Spiderstar's and Vireopath's jobs.
Flowerstar is complicit to the terrible things Spiderstar did. She makes false promises to the subjects of her clan by saying that she wishes things could be different, when really she doesn't plan on doing anything. She is selfish but pretends to be altruistic. Basically, she's just the lesser of two evils.
When she has to fight, she is very powerful but moves slow due to her largeness and long fur. She grooms her fur a lot (she has to style the fur around her face), but over the course of the comic she does it less and less due to her deteriorating mental state.
Pre-Detestation[]
Flowerstar was born to Shadetuft and Frostymint alongside her brother Shellfur. AppleClan has a height hierarchy because the tallest people are the closest to the stars, therefore being closer to StarClan. Flowerpaw was extremely tall, which meant that she was treated better than her family, who are shorter than average. Despite this, she and her family maintain a good relationship. She became a warrior named Flowerfoot at a year old.
She began mentoring Scalepaw a couple moons after becoming a warrior. Shortly after Scalestripe became a warrior, Spiderstar made the new position of Third In Command since AppleClan has had a huge population boom to where there are more than 60 cats (this will definitely not backfire in the future, for sure.) Flowerfoot was given this spot since she was the second tallest in the clan but didn't want to challenge the deputy, Tallbirch. Flowerfoot didn't enjoy the spotlight at first, but she liked when people were nice to her.
She was really close to her brother Shellfur but he died when they were two years old. She didn't like fighting but hated it more when Shellfur got his throat ripped out by a SwampClan cat. (who wrote that 🤨)
Detestation[]
When Flowerfoot was three years old her sisters Softcreek and Rookpath were born. She spent a little bit of time with them, but was busy with her Third In Command duties.
After a few moons Spiderstar's first deputy dies and Flowerfoot becomes the new deputy at four years old. Vireopath became the new Third In Command after Flowerfoot was promoted to deputy. Despite Flowerfoot officially being the deputy, Vireopath did everything the deputy did.
Vireopath and Flowerfoot were very close, they even raised Vireopath's kits with Tallbirch together. During this time they became mates. Tallbirch died when his kits were only a few days old, which made Vireopath annoyed since she only had kits with Tallbirch to pass the tall genes on in the clan. Flowerfoot was sure that he would have made a great father, besides, cats in AppleClan have kits all the time without being mates. This idea terrified Flowerfoot though, she didn't want to die during birth or have to nurse kits all day.
Despite Tallbirch and Vireopath both being incredibly tall, all of their children were average height. After Fawnpaw, Vulturepaw, and Goldenpaw became apprentices, Vireopath stopped talking to them. Vireopath was already ignoring them, but now she had no reason to care. Flowerfoot was angry at her for abandoning their children, but Spiderstar agreed that Vireopath didn't need to care for them anymore, since the whole clan raises kits, and not just the mother. Flowerfoot was saddened by this, and this incident made her dig deeper into the habit of not speaking her mind.
Flowerfoot continued to be close to her children, and when they were a couple years old, Fawnpetal fell in love with a SwampClan cat. Fawnpetal had two daughters, and Flowerfoot adored them. When Mousepaw and Ravenpaw were 8 moons old, they were visiting their father with Fawnpetal. A flood started though, and they were swept away by the water while Fawnpetal barely survived being drowned. Fawnpetal was sobbing when she got back to camp, and said goodbye to Flowerfoot because she was moving to SwampClan so when she had more kits, they would be able to swim and not drown like her daughters. Vireopath didn't bother saying goodbye and Flowerfoot was angry. They broke up a few days after this.
Her and Spiderstar become really close after a few moons of her being "deputy" and they are gaslight gatekeep girlbosses. Flowerfoot became phenomenal at managing all the warriors, and was always a voice of reason. (Being the voice of reason is pretty easy when you never give out your true opinion.) Flowerfoot wishes that the warriors were more genuine to her though, and not just being nice/respectful because of her position of power. Flowerfoot apologized to Vireopath for fighting so long, even though it should have been the other way around. Vireopath accepted the apology and they were speaking again.
Pre-Rotting Flower[]
When Flowerfoot is 7 years old a drought starts and that spirals into a famine. At first all the Clans are starving but then SunClan and SwampClan recover. AppleClan had a really huge population though (over 60 cats), so they hunted more prey which meant that more prey died and came back less abundantly.
Vireopath died a couple months into the famine because she was attacked by the true third tallest guy in the clan. At this point Flowerfoot and Vireopath's relationship was mostly good, even though it never fully recovered from what happened with their children. Vireopath's wounds were infected for four days and Flowerfoot was there for her that whole time. Flowerfoot was devastated when she passed away.
While that was happening one of the kits, Brownkit was already the size of an adult when he was five months old. "DO YOU SEE THAT," Spiderstar said. Flowerfoot nods. Both Spiderstar and Flowerfoot are getting old so they need a successor, and they know he will make a perfect Third In Command. Brownpaw is apprenticed to Spiderstar so he is guaranteed to survive the famine.
When Brownpaw is seven and a half moons old his mother dies from starvation. Spiderstar and Flowerfoot treat him like their son after that. When Spiderstar is busy, Flowerfoot mentors him. Brownstripe looks a lot like Fawnpetal since they are both brown tabbies, and that makes Flowerfoot sentimental of the time she spent with her daughter. At this point her sons were also dead, either because of the famine or battle idk. Spiderstar and Flowerfoot almost considered having their own kits that were guaranteed to be tall but both of them were asexual and only wanted to do that as a last resort. Even after Brownstripe became a warrior they still taught him how to be a leader and were not being very cool. Brownstripe didn't even want to be the deputy; he's just tall.
Rotting Flower[]
When the comic starts Flowerfoot and Spiderstar are walking back from the gathering. Spiderstar is too exhausted from hunger and loses his ninth life. Flowerfoot is devastated but knows what to do. She makes Brownstripe her deputy, and Sandyheart her Third In Command and gets her nine lives.
Despite the comic being named after her, she is not the main character. Over the course of the comic she gets murdered every month and of course getting continually murdered is not good for your mental state so that's why "Rotting Flower" is the title of the comic.

Trivia[]
- Flowerstar is the titular character of Rotting Flower
- Flowerstar was made in 2020 just to be Spiderstar's female deputy in this other comic I was planning called "Detestation"
- Back then, her personality was described as "bold and confident" which is the complete opposite of what she is now
