| "I can feel death taking over my body. [...] No, Blueheart. Don't worry about me. I've served as the leader of my Clan for generations since I was granted my nine lives. They've served me long and well, and it's now my time to go. No need to mourn me. I have family that I have been mourning for ages, and I will finally get to see them again. I have put my Clan in a good position to continue with leadership from other cats. It's not like I would ever forget that. Blueheart, you have a legacy as well. You are to become the next leader of ThunderClan, just like your father wanted you to be. It's no longer about me, or anyone else. It's about you. I want you to make a promise to me. I want you to be one of the most benevolent, kind leaders that your Clan has ever seen, just as I did for mine. But don't forget about the other Clans. The reason you have my name is because I fought to assist ThunderClan like it were my own Clan. Your name was given to you because of me, and I want you to feel like I am always going to be there for you. I'll be watching from StarClan, but for now, I must depart. I can hear my family: parents, siblings, and ancestors all calling to me, awaiting for me to come to them in my forever home. Farewell, Blueheart. I'll see you at your nine lives ceremony, and remember to keep my promise until your death." |
| — Bluestar encouraging Blueheart to become leader of ThunderClan as she dies in The Last Promise |
Bluestar is a gorgeous, ash-blue[40] (though often just referred to as simply blue[41] or blue-gray[42]) she-cat with blue eyes[43].
Bluestar was a leader of SkyClan in the gorge and in the lake territories. She was born as Bluekit to Skyflower and Brightclaw in SkyClan along with her two siblings, Lightkit and Mistykit, though the two died along with Skyflower shortly after birth. Questioning his loyalty towards Fernstar and mourning his mate's death, Brightclaw decided to flee from SkyClan along with his surviving daughter later that night, and renamed Bluekit Blue and himself Bright. From then on, Bright and Blue would live on their own, traveling around the Clans. When they meet Snake's group, the two decide to stay temporarily while they sort out their travels. However, the group is attacked by their rival group, Komodo's group. After Snake is slain in battle, Blue quickly takes over the group under the name Ash and kills Komodo before she and Bright flee, beginning the Battle of the Rogues. Ash takes her old name back afterwards and continues her travels with her father.
After deciding that the lake territories were too much for them due to the Battle of the Rogues, Blue and Bright decide to take a journey to go past the mountains to discover what was beyond the Clan territories. On the way there, Bright and Blue are encountered by Umberfur, a senior warrior, along with three younger warriors: Crimsonflower, Azuremoon, and Verdantwind. Blue and Bright go back to SkyClan, where Bright takes on his old name and Fernstar gives Blue the warrior name Blueshadow. After adjusting to Clan life, Blueshadow mentors two apprentices and eventually becomes deputy after Stormpetal's death. However, she mysteriously goes missing after killing Byzantium. After waking up in RiverClan, Blueshadow returns to the Clan moons later when Shadowstar attempts to take over SkyClan and kills him after Fernstar is slain. Afterward the battle, she became leader as Bluestar and appoints Flameshard as her deputy.
Shortly after she became leader, Bluestar took on a mate, Iceflight, and with the help of Sunwish, was able to mother Deerkit, Featherkit, Daykit, Swiftkit, and Burnkit while still retaining her duties as a leader. She also welcomed Wishscar, Soaringtalon, and Sunthroat into SkyClan and defeated Thunderstorm, Shadowstar's successor. Shortly after, she sends the three on a quest for information about RiverClan and was able to help quell Arcticstar's rage. She participated in ending the ShadowClan war and for her efforts, Cobaltstar named his son Bluekit after her. She removed the last of Shadowstar's influence from the Clans by killing him a second time and was revered a hero. Sometime later, she was able to defeat The Monsters and stop Shadow from taking over the Tribe of Rushing Water as the next Stoneteller, appointing Crimsonflower as her new deputy after the death of Flameshard. When Firestar takes over ThunderClan, Bluestar assists Blueheart in defeating him and Darkstar, despite pleas from her Clan to stay since she was on her last few lives. During the battle against Snakestar, Bluestar helps win the battle, but is inflicted with painful wounds that would eventually cost her her last life. After Bluestar passes away, Crimsonflower becomes the new leader of SkyClan, Crimsonstar, and she grants her a life for compassion. She also grants a life to Blueheart when he becomes the new leader of ThunderClan, Bluestar, and grants him a life for doing what he believes is right.
Detailed description[]
Bluestar has thick, blue fur[44] that, according to Firestar, reminiscences a pale gray[45], and according to Talon, similar to a combination of ash and blue[46], with bright blue eyes.[47] She is gorgeous[48] and gallant[49]. Crimsonflower also comments that she appears regal and valiant[50]. Her pregnancy made her gain a slight amount of weight, though she lost it quickly and looked like she did before she were pregnant.[51] She is of average height, though leans to be slightly taller.[52] She has thick fur that is covered in battle scars, though the fur is able to hide it quite well.[53]
Personality[]
When Bluestar was a loner, she seemed to not care about anything and was wanting to just get her life over with.[54] She sometimes has trouble communicating due to her previously sheltered life.[55] Bluestar commonly appears emotionless[56] and can easily fake her emotions to deceive her enemies.[57] Brightclaw's death is the turning point in her arc, as her personality changes to a more over-protective one.[58] Fernstar comments that she works hard, which was one of the reasons why she chose her as a replacement deputy after Stormpetal's death.[59] She is dedicated to her Clan.[60] Bluestar has also been described as slightly haughty towards her enemies[61] and somewhat short-tempered.[62] She is curious about other Clans and their lifestyles.[63]
Bluestar tends to cling on to feelings of nostalgia.[64] She can easily get lost in thought[65] and often daydreams in her spare time[66] about her life if things had worked differently for her.[67]
History[]
Warriors of Light Arc[]
- "Now that you and your father have returned to the Clan, you two should both take on warrior names. Brightclaw is taking on his old one, but you don't have a warrior name, don't you?"
- —Fernstar to Blue Shadows of SkyClan, chapter 2
Blue is a loner who frequently travels with her father, Bright. Upon escaping a battle, she and her father travel near the gorge, where she is discovered by a warrior, Crimsonflower, and eventually three other warriors, Azuremoon, Verdantwind, and Umberfur, discover the two. Blue is brought back to SkyClan and learns of her father's background as a SkyClan warrior named Brightclaw. Seeing the Clan overjoyed by Brightclaw's return, Blue decides to join the Clan as a warrior, and Fernstar renames her Blueshadow.
As Blueshadow gets used to Clan life, Reborn BloodClan, then known as an unknown Clan, attacks, killing her apprentice, Softpaw. While the Clan mourns Softpaw, Fernstar gives strict orders to the warriors to protect the Clan, and assigns Blueshadow a new apprentice, Foxpaw, who becomes a warrior, Foxfur. During an attack, Brightclaw is killed by Shadeshadow, a warrior. Enraged, Blueshadow takes a break to mourn her father, swearing that she will end Shadeshadow's life as well as her Clan. During her mourning, the deputy of the Clan, Stormpetal, dies, and Fernstar appoints Blueshadow as the new deputy.
The same Clan attacks days later, and Blueshadow sends the warriors of SkyClan to fight. There, she kills Shadeshadow, and confronts Byzantium, another Clan warrior, and drowns him in the river. After she drowns him, the leader of the Clan, Shadowstar, fights her for killing one of his warriors, and she is knocked down cold and is sent down the river. With no deputy, SkyClan becomes weakened, and the two Clans continue to fight each other for 15 moons while Blueshadow is missing.
When Blueshadow finally awakes, she lands in RiverClan and is discovered by Mapleflame, a warrior. The Clan takes her in temporarily as she tries to recover her memory, reminiscing her kithood while learning of current events. While she tries to regain her memory, Mapleflame asks her everything she can remember, where Blueshadow responds that she did not remember much, but was able to recall what happened in the previous battle she was at. After Brightclaw talks to her from StarClan, Blueshadow decides to quickly return to SkyClan. Ashenstar, the RiverClan leader, asked her to bring some of his warriors with him, but Blueshadow refused, not knowing the current state of SkyClan, and told him that she would come back if the Clan needed any.
When Blueshadow returns to SkyClan, she finds out that everyone had mostly recovered. Fernstar is excited for her return and Blueshadow asks about what happened, where Fernstar explains that they had been trying to fight off the same Clan for the whole time she was gone. Blueshadow tells Fernstar of what happened in RiverClan and asks if warriors are needed, and Fernstar says it would be a good idea for their next battle, but orders her to rest first. After resting, Blueshadow sets out for RiverClan, where Ashenstar sends some warriors with her. Upon her return to SkyClan again, Iceflight, Fernstar's son, greets her and informs her of the casualties that had happened with the current battle, including Foxfur. Blueshadow mourns Foxfur and takes the RiverClan warriors to prepare for battle.
As the battle begins, Blueshadow begins to bond with a respected warrior, Featherblaze. While Shadowstar sends his troops in, Yellowshade, Shadowstar's former mate, speaks to Blueshadow from StarClan, giving her advice for the upcoming battle, where it is revealed that she is a descendant of him and Yellowshade. Blueshadow takes Yellowshade's advice and battles Shadowstar, though is still in shock of the reveal. Shadowstar appears and the two fight, though Featherblaze joins the battle and she is killed. While Shadowstar orders his troops to capture cats from other Clans to join the battle, Blueshadow orders warriors to pursue them. With the orders and mourning Featherblaze, Shadowstar takes advantage of her and sneaks into camp, where he kills Fernstar, who was on her final life. Blueshadow ends up fighting Shadowstar, and the battle ends up being led to the river, where Blueshadow kills Shadowstar by throwing him down the river, where he hits his head on a rock and drowns.
With the death of Shadowstar, the reborn BloodClan cats immediately cease fighting and retreat, having no further direction. Blueshadow becomes the new leader, Bluestar, and appoints the warrior Flameshard as her deputy, and she works to rebuild the Clan. Bluestar becomes mates with Fernstar's last surviving son, Iceflight, as her other, Tigerbelly, was one of the casualties in the battle. During her nine lives ceremony, Bluestar makes a promise to rebuild SkyClan and lead it to its greatest peak.
Longer Overview
Shadows of SkyClan[]
Bluestar first appears as Blue hunting with her father, Bright. Blue and Bright get tired and then decide to settle down in the area near a gorge. They're then discovered by Umberfur along with Crimsonflower, Azuremoon, and Verdantwind, where they take the two back to the Clan to Fernstar. Fernstar greets them and welcomes back Bright, where Bright reveals to Blue that he was formerly the warrior Brightclaw, but ran away with her to become a loner. Bright changes his name back to Brightclaw and Fernstar renames Blue Blueshadow.
Blueshadow initially struggles to get used to Clan life as Crimsonflower, Azuremoon, and Verdantwind are trying to help her out. After some time of being a warrior, Verdantwind notices a quick cat running to a cave in the rocks, and takes the four there. He enters the cave and finds Cindershadow, Blackstrength, Happysage, and Sunlight, who think that they're invaders to their underground area of SkyClan and fight them off. Blueshadow eventually convinces to them mid-fight they accidentally stumbled upon them and they meant no harm. Cindershadow, Blackstrength, Happysage, and Sunlight confirm that they are part of the Wolves, an organization of nocturnal and outcast warriors in SkyClan.
The Wolves show Blueshadow around the area where they encounter the leader of the Wolves, Onetail, where he explains about the group to Blueshadow. In private to her later that night, he also talks about her deceased mother Skyflower, describing to Blueshadow what her mother was like. The next morning, Onetail requests for Blueshadow and the other cats to find one of his scrolls. Blueshadow agrees and leads the cats to help Onetail.
The quest seems to be more difficult than the group expected, as some of them were almost killed by who they believed to be rogues. However, it was believed that Onetail used it as a distraction for him to steal the body of Skyflower that Fernstar had been preserving and to purposefully endanger the young warriors. Fernstar rushes in and after Onetail begs he isn't guilty, though Fernstar kills him due to the accusation.
Fernstar notifies Blueshadow the next day that a StarClan cat had sent her a message in a dream, telling the truth about Onetail and that he was innocent throughout the process, and meant no harm. She mentions to her that some of the rogues were from a Clan that StarClan had forbid from their culture. That night, Blueshadow questions Fernstar's abilities as leader and wondered how Onetail's death could impact the Clan.
SkyClan's Dragon[]
After Blueshadow gets used to Clan life, she is revered by her clanmates for being the daughter and apprentice of Brightclaw. At a Clan meeting, she is assigned an apprentice, Softpaw, and mentors him. However, Softpaw is killed during an invasion, where Blueshadow failed to save him. She notifies Fernstar and describes more detail about the invasion. Fernstar orders the Clan to be cautious, as she does not think it is another one of the known Clans in the other territories.
Sometime later, Blueshadow is assigned a new apprentice, Foxpaw. Blueshadow and Foxpaw become close during Foxpaw's mentorship, and after training Foxpaw becomes a warrior, Foxfur.
That night, the same Clan attacks again, and Blueshadow is notified that the elders' den was close to being attacked. She worries for her father, believing that he could easily become the next victim. After the amount of repeated invasions and battles from the unknown Clan, Fernstar heavily guards SkyClan in an attempt to keep out the cats, disrupting Clan life.
More defenses were weakened and other warriors were killed by the following morning. Fernstar sends out warriors capable of fighting to the battle, ordering them to defend the Clan. Blueshadow immediately heads for the elders' den to attempt to protect her father, where she is attacked by Shadeshadow, who escapes from their battle and kills Brightclaw before disappearing.
Blueshadow temporarily takes a break from her duties as she mourns her father's death. Eventually Fernstar attempts to comfort Blueshadow after the battle. Fernstar then notifies Blueshadow that her current deputy, Stormpetal, had died from greencough and was wanting to make her the new deputy due to her being Foxfur's mentor and her previous experience of fending for herself and being mentored by Brightclaw, who she called one of the Clan's greatest warriors. Blueshadow accepts the deputy position and is ready to take on the new role.
Sealed[]
After being appointed as deputy, Blueshadow takes her role seriously, especially while trying to mourn her father's death. During a patrol, she tries to search for Shadeshadow and comes across her trying to sneak into camp. In battle, she kills Shadeshadow, though Byzantium appears to scare off Blueshadow. Wanting to prevent an invasion, Blueshadow flees to Fernstar
When Blueshadow visits Fernstar, she notifies her leader of the cats at the borders. Crimsonflower, Azuremoon, and Verdantwind accompany her, telling Fernstar that they will keep the Clan safe, but it would be best if she create a plan for the Clan. The same Clan attacks SkyClan nights later, though with a much smaller division, led by Byzantium. Blueshadow goes after Byzantium to fight him, hoping his death could drive out the invasion. She takes the battle to the river and drowns him, sending his body down the river. However, an unknown cat appears, confronting her for killing the members of the Clan, and battles her as well, sending her down the same river. Blueshadow's mind goes blank, and she is not seen again by the Clan for fifteen moons.
Blueshadow finally awakens near RiverClan territory fifteen years later from down the river, and is discovered by a warrior, Mapleflame. Mapleflame brings her to RiverClan, where Ashenstar confronts her and the two work together to try and restore Blueshadow's memory. Blueshadow reminisces being in RiverClan as a loner when taking shelter with her father, and begins to remember her early life. With the information, Ashenstar recognizes Blueshadow from when she was Blue, and after recovering more of her memory, she explains her situation and how she returned to SkyClan with her father and is now the deputy, though she is unaware of what has happened to the Clan since she had disappeared. After learning that SkyClan is surviving, she feels relieved, but has the need to return to the Clan. Ashenstar asks if SkyClan needs assistance from his Clan, but Blueshadow says that she will return to SkyClan and notify him if assistance is needed.
On her way to SkyClan, Blueshadow is visited by Brightclaw from StarClan, who talks to her about Fernstar, and the two discuss if Fernstar was a morally correct leader. After the discussion, Blueshadow wonders if Fernstar had handled the Clan well against the invaders while she were missing.
River's Glory[]
Blueshadow finally returns to SkyClan to find everyone mostly recovered, but the battles were still happening frequently. Fernstar welcomes Blueshadow back, asking her what happened after the battle prior to where she had gone missing. Blueshadow tells her everything she can remember as well as Ashenstar's offered assistance. Fernstar accepts the offer, but orders Blueshadow to rest first before leaving. After resting, Blueshadow departs for RiverClan, and brings back warriors to fight in the next battle with the agreement of Ashenstar.
When Blueshadow arrives back in SkyClan, she receives word that Foxfur, her apprentice, had died in battle, from an ice-blue tom who reveals himself to be Iceflight, one of the kits of Fernstar, claiming that he had found her dead after a patrol with his brother Tigerbelly. She then meets and becomes close with a respected warrior, Featherblaze, while waiting for the next battle to begin.
Blueshadow then nervously awaits for the battle to begin, and when it starts, she kills one cat before proceeding to go down the lines.
Death of Darkness[]
During the battle, Blueshadow learns of Shadowstar, the leader's, plans to capture SkyClan through the death of its leader, and has set a division of his army to try and kill her. While trying to find Shadowstar, Yellowshade, the former mate of Shadowstar, and Brightclaw speak to Blueshadow from StarClan to give her advice, where she learns of Shadowstar's background with Yellowshade and thus learns she is a descendant of him. In shock, Blueshadow forces herself to proceed.
Shadowstar and Blueshadow end up encountering each other and get into a fight, though Featherblaze appears to try and kill Shadowstar, but she is killed by him. While mourning her, Shadowstar sneaks off from the battle with Blueshadow and finds Fernstar, who is in the nursery, and kills her in battle. Blueshadow learns of this when Fernstar speaks to her from StarClan during the battle, and begs for her to stop Shadowstar from taking over quickly. Blueshadow agrees, and works to find Shadowstar.
RiverClan then arrives and begins to push back Reborn BloodClan cats, allowing Blueshadow to easily find Shadowstar in the camp. Shadowstar orders some of his Clan members to find cats from other Clans to fight for them, and several from WindClan and ThunderClan are captured for the battle. Blueshadow, trying to enter the Clan, tries her best not to kill them as she tries to track Shadowstar down for another battle.
Blueshadow eventually finds Shadowstar and battles him, taking the battle to the nearby river that he had drowned her in, and knocks him in during the battle, sending him down the river and hitting his head on several rocks, crushing his bones as he drowns in the river. After the battle, Blueshadow rushes back to SkyClan, hoping to succeed Fernstar as leader and to end the battle.
Blueshadow announces that she has killed Shadowstar when arriving at camp. Reborn BloodClan cats hear of the news and are unsure of their direction to take and retreat, leaving SkyClan in peace. A proper leader ceremony is held for Blueshadow, who becomes Bluestar, and she appoints Flameshard as her deputy. After receiving her nine lives and officially becoming the leader of SkyClan, Bluestar becomes mates with Iceflight, who promises to work with her to help lead herself and her Clan to greatness.
Secret of the Wind Arc[]
- "The next generation of warriors will live on, for I carry Iceflight's kits inside of me."
- —Bluestar at a Clan gathering In the Stars, prologue
Bluestar has given birth to her and Iceflight's kits, Deerkit, Featherkit, Daykit, Swiftkit, and Burnkit. With the help of Sunwish and Flameshard, who acts as the temporary leader, she is able to raise her kits before returning to her duties. When Sunwish announces she plans to retire early because of an injury, she looks for an apprentice to take on. Featherkit is intrigued and asks to become a medicine apprentice, and Bluestar agrees. The apprentice ceremony is held sometime afterwards, announcing Bluestar's return to her role as leader.
As an apprentice, Featherpaw tells her mother about an omen she received. She tells her mother that the omen was one of anger and it was targeted against her. Bluestar thanks Featherpaw for telling her about the omen, and after she leaves, she begins to worry, believing she did something wrong and was going to face punishment. Flameshard assures her that everything would be alright and Bluestar accepts it, but not completely.
At the warrior and medicine cat ceremony, Bluestar's kits become warriors and medicine cats. Sunwish acts as medicine cat for a few more moons before retiring so that Featherflight would not have to take on the burden of being the only medicine cat after just finishing her training. Sunwish's retirement is announced at a Gathering as Featherflight explores more about the omen.
After strange behavior from groups nearby, Daybreak is attacked by Berryspiral. Bluestar is seen caring for her, worrying about her daughter's health.
When Featherflight notifies SkyClan of the Omen of Fury, Bluestar is the first to take action. She begins to come up with plans on how to fight against the omen. When the final battle against Thunderstorm and the rest of Reborn BloodClan occurs, she leads her troops to battle to fight Thunderstorm. She is successful and dismantles the Clan for good, though loses her first life and sustains a serious injury.
Longer Overview
In The Stars[]
Bluestar has given birth to Iceflight's kits: Deerkit, Featherkit, Daykit, Swiftkit, and Burnkit. Flameshard is her temporary leader while she stays in the nursery, and returns to her job as her kits become apprentices.
The day before her kits' apprentice ceremony, she announces the planned early retirement of Sunwish, as she had sustained an injury that would make her job difficult to perform, and she would like to mentor an apprentice so SkyClan would have a medicine cat after her retirement, and was hoping one of the kits that would be promoted tomorrow would be willing to become her apprentice. Featherkit is intrigued by the idea of becoming a medicine cat, and tells her mother that she was wanting to become Sunwish's apprentice. Bluestar agrees, and prepares for the ceremony of her kits the following day.
At the apprentice ceremony, Bluestar promotes her kits into apprentices, assigning Featherpaw to be mentored as Sunwish's apprentice while the rest train to become warriors. She assigns Deerpaw to Darkface, Daypaw to Swanheart, Swiftpaw to Minnowstripe, and Burnpaw to Blackstripe. She also assigns Lightpaw to Dapplestorm. While spectating her kits' training, she is happy to see that Burnpaw and Lightpaw become close friends.
When having a conversation with Flameshard, Featherpaw bursts in and tells her mother about an omen she has received, looking worried. Bluestar says that she was going to congratulate Featherpaw, but by the look on her face, it wasn't a good omen. Featherpaw says that the omen she received was weak, and that she can't tell exactly what it means, the only word she can describe it with as "anger", and that it was targeted against Bluestar. Featherpaw promises her mother that she will try her best to find out more about the omen, but that she wanted to let her know since the omen was directed to her. Bluestar thanks Featherpaw for letting her know, and when she leaves to return to her training, Bluestar breaks down in nervousness, thinking she had done something wrong and that she was going to face punishment. Flameshard reassures Bluestar that everything will be alright, and Bluestar accepts it, though not fully.
The apprentices all become warriors/medicine cats at a ceremony moons after their training. Deerpaw becomes Deertail, Featherpaw becomes Featherflight, Daypaw becomes Daybreak, Swiftpaw becomes Swiftlight, Burnpaw becomes Burntail, and Lightpaw becomes Lightears. Burntail and Lightears become mates sometime after the ceremony, and Bluestar is happy to see their relationship. Sunwish decides to work for a few more moons so Featherflight wouldn't have much pressure as the only medicine cat straight after training. After a few moons, Sunwish retires, and her retirement is announced by Bluestar at a Gathering.
After Featherflight explores more about the omen about anger against Bluestar she received as an apprentice, she takes it as a sign of a future invasion on SkyClan, and rushes to tell her mother, who immediately prepares for the worst.
The Burning Flame[]
When Daybreak gets attacked by Berryspiral, Bluestar is seen caring for her as she is worried about her daughter.
Omen of Fury[]
After Featherflight informs Bluestar and the other high-ranking SkyClan cats of the vision she saw about the Omen of Fury as well as the visions and dreams about Reborn BloodClan and its members as well as her grandparents Skyflower and Brightclaw visiting her in her dreams from StarClan, Bluestar explains her past experiences to help inform Featherflight about the situation.
Eventually when the ghost of Byzantium, an old enemy of Bluestar, appears and explains his story to Featherflight, once Featherflight informs Bluestar she starts thinking about him.
Sign of the Night[]
Near the end of the book, when Flameshard reports the patrol summary to Bluestar, she is seen making battle preparations.
Forest of Revenge[]
When the final battle against Thunderstorm begins, Bluestar leads her SkyClan troops to battle and fights against Thunderstorm. There, she looses her first life. While her Clan is victorious and Reborn BloodClan is gone for good, she is immensely injured and it takes moons for her to recover.
Darkened Wings Arc[]
- "Looks like there are some rogue threats nearby the Clan, but even after all these moons of recovering, Featherflight still doesn't see myself as in a proper state to fight them off. I'm going to need to send you three to investigate the issue."
- —Bluestar to Soaringtalon, Wishscar, and Sunthroat The Last Whisper, prologue
Bluestar sends Wishscar, Soaringtalon, and Sunthroat to RiverClan to deal with rogues while she is recovering from her injuries fighting Thunderstorm. However, while they are dealing with rogues in the territory, Arcticstar is furious with Bluestar, believing that she was wanting to interrupt Clan affairs after the death of their deputy, Lostbird. Bluestar wants to help quell Arcticstar's fury, but Featherflight argues against it, not wanting her to lose more lives.
After she recovers, Bluestar decides to head towards RiverClan territory to protect her cousins, and battles Arcticstar, losing one of her lives in the process. When Arcticstar surrenders, Bluestar returns the warriors to camp and congratulates them on their return.
Longer Overview
The Last Whisper[]
Bluestar is seen at the beginning of the book where she gives Wishscar, Soaringtalon, and Sunthroat a quest to go to RiverClan territory to deal with rogues. She is still slightly injured from her battle against Thunderstorm.
Flame and Revenge[]
In the epilogue, word reaches to Bluestar about Arcticstar's argument with her cousins during their quest. Bluestar suggests that she goes to help her cousins, but Featherflight advises her not to because she still has some injuries that could get worse if she were to fight again. Bluestar listens to Featherflight's advice to avoid her easily losing more lives.
The Blazing Star[]
Bluestar is mentioned by Arcticstar when she talks about how her father, Flameshard, is her deputy.
In the epilogue, Bluestar is seen with Featherflight, where she asks her if she would still be able to leave and go help her cousins. Featherflight deems her as mostly healed and advises her to be careful as she leaves.
The Sun Warrior[]
Bluestar arrives with some warriors to fight against Arcticstar in the middle of the book. However, she becomes seriously injured while fighting her and loses one of her lives, leaving her with seven left.
Silenced Fate[]
When Arcticstar surrenders, Bluestar congratulates the warriors on their return. In the epilogue, she begins to reminiscence her past as a loner, alluding to the Little Blue arc.
Little Blue Arc[]
- "My life is mine to serve to myself. Then after that, I will disappear from this world after living my cycle."
- —Blue Battle of the Rogues, chapter ???
Blue is a loner who travels with her father, Bright. Bright is teaching Blue to hunt, functioning similarly to Clan apprenticeship. Blue catches some prey and the two continue on their journeys when they are encountered by Copperstone, who warns them about Ravenstar, who tended to persecute non-ThunderClan cats in the territory. Copperstone gives them fresh-kill to convince them to move along, and the two flee to ShadowClan territory. On the way, they encounter Dawn, and take her in to help her from her injury.
Bright asks for Blue to hunt while he tends to Dawn, hoping to give Blue some real hunting experience. Blue agrees and hunts in ShadowClan territory when she meets the deputy, Loststorm, who helps Blue hunt for prey. After catching some prey, she thanks Loststorm and leaves to find her father and Dawn. She gives Dawn some prey, and she is happy when Dawn asks to join her and Bright on their travels. The group remained in ShadowClan territory over the next few days when they are confronted by Loststorm, now Loststar, once again, who claims that Blue has stolen prey from the Clan's fresh-kill pile. Bright apologizes to Loststar for the incident, believing him. Loststar is upset with Bright for not taking proper responsibility for Blue's actions and has some of his warriors attack him. Blue and Bright escape the fight, but Dawn is killed. After they escape the battle, they mourn Dawn before continuing on their travels, hoping to stay away from ShadowClan.
Moons later, Blue has improved on her hunting skills, helping her father out as they travel. During their travels, they encounter a rogue group led by Snake. The two have nowhere to go, so they decide to stay with Snake's group as they sort their travels, though the two initially aren't welcomed and respected by most of the group members. A few days later, Blue is woken up by Blaze, who tells her and Bright that they need more group members to help them in a battle with Komodo and his group. Eager to prove herself to the rogue group, Blue participates in the battle, where she kills Komodo. Komodo's group members are terrified of her, seeing her in battle for the first time, and wonder who she is, where she says that she is a rogue named Ash. Komodo's group members are in fear of her. With no direction of moving forward, the other group members fight over who will lead the group next. Snake's group retreats and thanks Ash for what she did at the battlefield and offer for her to stay, thinking that she avenged the death of Snake, but Ash feels as if the path of a rogue isn't right for her, and she and Bright leave the group. Ash takes back her name, Blue, and continues with traveling, the two heading to RiverClan. On the way there, they are notified that Blue's actions have begun the Battle of the Rogues.
To escape the battle, Blue and Bright head to RiverClan, where they are taken in by Ashenstar as refugees. She meets an apprentice, Flamepaw, and the two become close friends. She learns to catch fish with Waterpaw, and Flamepaw suggests that Blue and Bright become RiverClan warriors. Blue appreciates Flamepaw's offer, but declines, as Bright told her that the Clans weren't always safe, and that she didn't want to go through the process of asking him. Flamepaw and Waterpaw are disappointed, but move on.
Blue and Bright hunt for Ashenstar to show their appreciation towards him and his Clan. However, the Clan is encountered by Smolder, a former member of Komodo's group who had been planning against Blue for her actions at the battle between Komodo and Snake's groups. He and several rogues attack the camp, majorly injuring Blue. Willowheart and Kestreldawn, the medicine cats, assist her with recovery, but Blue and Bright both come to an agreement that now several rogues know where they are that it would be best to leave after she recovers. They come to an agreement to go beyond the mountains to explore with the possibility of finding a group to join. After Kestreldawn declares Blue recovered, the two leave RiverClan, saying goodbye to Flamepaw and Waterpaw, who have become the warriors Flameshard and Waterfall at a recent ceremony, who wish them farewell.
Blue and Bright stock up on fresh-kill and feed themselves before leaving to travel beyond the mountains. They attempt to get past the mountains, but fail when they are confronted by Blizzard and her group, who mocks them and compares them to Clan cats for their climbing abilities, where Bright is quick to defend himself. Blizzard offers to let the two join her group for a bit, and they will help them cross the mountains, and they agree.
The first task that the two are given as members of Blizzard's group is to invade Panther's group and steal their fresh-kill. Panther is furious for the actions of Blizzard and her group, and vows revenge. Their second task is a few days later, where they hunt with Scorch and Marsh. They are confronted by Thistle, a member of Panther's group who was sent to spy on Blizzard's group in revenge for taking their fresh-kill. Thistle claims he overheard Blue talking to Bright about her actually being the Ash who started the Battle of the Rogues, and Blue confirms this it true after pressure. Scorch and Marsh are furious with her and leave her behind to return to camp, where she gets into a fight with Thistle, but is able to get away.
Back in the rogue group's camp, Blizzard calls a meeting, where she explains to the group the allegations about Blue. Blue confirms that it is true that she is Ash, and the group is furious at her and Bright, who defends her. Blizzard declares them exiled, but Hail states that he believes they should be executed. The rest of the group agrees and chases after the two, but Blue and Bright get away and find themselves in SkyClan territory, where Shadows of SkyClan begins.
Longer Overview
The Lost Apprentice[]
After the prologue, Bright is seen teaching Blue to hunt as part of her apprenticeship near ThunderClan territory. Blue is successful and catches some prey, and the two move along. They are then encountered by a ThunderClan warrior who questions them, where they explain that they are loners and mean no harm. The ThunderClan warrior introduces himself as Copperstone and warns Blue and Bright about Ravenstar, the ThunderClan leader, known to persecute trespassers. To try and get them to run, Copperstone takes some prey from the fresh-kill pile and gives it to the two loners to try and scare them off. After hearing about Ravenstar, Blue and Bright flee the territory to visit ShadowClan.
On their way to ShadowClan, they encounter a loner, Dawn, who is in need of assistance for hunting due to one of her broken legs. To try and help her gain experience in her apprenticehood, Bright tells Blue to hunt for Dawn. Blue agrees and goes to hunt near ShadowClan territory.
While looking for prey near ShadowClan territory, Blue runs into the deputy of ShadowClan, who introduces himself as Loststorm. He helps Blue hunt for prey. When Blue gets a decent amount of prey, she thanks Loststorm and heads off to find Dawn.
When Blue finds Dawn, she gives Dawn the prey. Dawn thanks Blue endlessly and asks if she would be able to join the two. Bright agrees and the two look for where to settle. They eventually decide to settle in trees bordering ShadowClan camp. The three introduce each other formally and get to know each other, and Blue begins to trust Dawn. The group would eventually remain in the side of the forest for a few days as Blue practiced her tree climbing skills. Over the next few days, Blue notices that Bright is beginning to warm up towards Dawn as if he were beginning to fall in love with her.
After some days, Loststorm arrives again, though introduces himself as Loststar, the new leader of ShadowClan. He accuses Blue of thievery for stealing prey from the fresh-kill pile. Believing Loststar, Bright is furious at Blue for the accusation and asks Loststar for forgiveness, as Blue was only an apprentice who was still learning. Loststar is furious, telling Bright that if he were truly taking responsibility as her mentor, then he would have watched her to make sure the thievery did not happen. The cats get into a fight and Bright decides to flee. As he tries to run, he grabs Dawn to try and take her with him, but due to her broken leg, Dawn fell back and was killed by Loststar. From there, they learn that Loststar had killed Whitestar to succeed as leader, though they did not learn if his nine lives were granted. Blue and Bright were successfully able to escape Loststar at the price of Dawn's life, and when they finally escape they mourn her.
Battle of the Rogues[]
The book takes place some moons after the ending of TLA. Blue is now a mature apprentice in Clan terms, catching prey well to support her and her father as they traverse the lands. At some point in the book, she and her father encounter a group of rogues, first meeting the leader of the group, Snake. Intimidated by Snake's scarred body and nicked ears, Blue warns her father to be cautious. They have nowhere to go, so they decide to join Snake's group while they sort out their next travels.
Blue and Bright then meet Snake's rogue group. Off the bat, Blue does not get along with Talon, another mature apprentice, and they get into several conflicts that make Blue question her stay.
The following days are spent where Bright mentors Blue to finish her training. When she is declared finished by Bright, Bright laughs and tells Blue that by Clan standards, she would be a warrior. Blue is excited and returns back to Snake's camp, telling the other rogues about her accomplishments. The rogues just excuse her behavior, except for Crow, who snaps at her and tells her that the Clans are a disgrace and it would never be wise to talk about her identity using Clan terms, using his own previous identity of a Clan cat, Crowfur, to explain so. Blue immediately becomes upset and retreats to rest for the rest of the day with her father.
The following morning, Blue and Bright are suddenly awoken by Blaze, who warns them that a rival rogue group is attacking them and that they needed backup. Enthusiastically, Blue accepts to battle to prove herself worthy as a cat in this world. Bright tells her not to and insists that she stay behind, worrying that she may be injured from the battle. Bright then explains to her that he was in an argument with Snake about staying in the group, and to flee and quickly disassociate before Snake finds them. Blue agrees and she and Bright try to leave before they are discovered by the rogues.
When they get close to leaving, they are confronted by Komodo, who tells them that he found out about them joining Snake's group while deciding where to travel to next. He offers them to join his group, but Bright refuses, as he doesn't want to get caught in their messes. Blaze overhears the conversation and jumps in, fighting Komodo. However, Komodo kills him shortly into their battle. Snake finds Komodo and fights him as well, but Snake is killed. Komodo celebrates his rival's death and declares that all members of Snake's group join his. Blue refuses and tells him that she is taking over the group. Komodo, confused, asks who she is, and she declares herself as a rogue named Ash and gets into a fight with him, eventually killing him.
After the battle, the cats of formerly Snake's group congratulate Ash and ask about the future of the group. Ash says to them that she cannot stay for long, and leaves with Bright to continue their travels, taking back her old name, Blue. What happens to Snake's group or its members afterwards is currently unknown, but the group most likely disbanded and the members went their own ways.
While Blue and Bright are traveling to RiverClan, they obtain word from other loners that Snake's group's sudden disbandment had caused other nearby groups to fight, which would be dubbed as the Battle of the Rogues.
Midnight Whisper[]
Moons later, Blue and Bright are seen in RiverClan, taking temporary residence to escape from the battle. There, she meets an apprentice, Flamepaw. She and Flamepaw become close friends, and often spend time together.
When Flamepaw is guiding Blue around the Clan for part of his apprenticeship, Waterpaw approaches the two and asks for assistance in her training. The two agree and spend time with Waterpaw, catching fish in the river. Flamepaw is impressed by Blue's skills for her age and congratulates her. Waterpaw tells Blue that if she were in the Clan that she would be a warrior, and offers to ask the leader, Ashenstar, if he would be willing to have her join the Clan. Blue appreciates the offer, but declines as her father believed that the Clans weren't always safe for her, and she didn't want to go through the trouble of asking him. Waterpaw then asks why Blue and Bright were staying in the Clans, but Blue says that she isn't exactly sure of his thinking, but thinks he might have made an exception, for he didn't want him and his daughter to get involved in the Battle of the Rogues. Flamepaw and Waterpaw understand and move on.
Blue and Bright decide to hunt to show thankfulness for Ashenstar for allowing refuge, and constantly hunt throughout the day for the Clan. Unbeknownst to them, one of the former members of Komodo's group, Smolder, discovered their refuge and had been plotting against Blue due to her killing Komodo and beginning the battle. The two are resting in the warriors' den after a long, exhausting day of hunting when a warrior, Mothleg, tells the two that the Clan has been invaded by rogues, who are trying to take their food supply.
Blue and Bright go with warriors to defend the Clan's supply when Blue is attacked by Smolder. Smolder attacks Blue's leg, but Blue dodges quickly to avoid it, but lands on her back trying to avoid him, injuring her spine. Bright immediately tries to force Smolder off of her and is given assistance by some of the warriors. After a long battle, Smolder is killed, and two medicine cats, Willowheart and Kestreldawn, come to assist Blue, taking her to their den. Bright follows the medicine cats nervously, hoping they can find a way for his daughter to recover as soon as possible.
The Secret Journey[]
While Blue is recovering, Bright comes to her and tellers her that now that a rogue has found her, that they knew that they were in RiverClan, and had to leave. Blue agrees, but wants to leave once she recovers. Willowheart and Kestreldawn tell Bright that if Blue went on without resting then it could cause more serious injuries. Bright agrees, and Kestreldawn calms him down from his anxiousness.
Blue spends the next few days recovering, and while doing so, dreams of being caught in a terrible battle, which instantly wakes her in the night. She is unaware of the circumstances behind the battle or why the dream came to her, but decides that she wants to let her father know, thinking he may have possible answers. She tries to stand, but her back is still in pain, so she decides to continue resting.
The next day, when Bright checks up on Blue, she tells him of the dream she has. Bright interprets it as a premonition and wonders if he and Blue should leave RiverClan. Blue supports the idea, but doesn't think she is able to do so with her back. Blue and Bright discuss where to go next after she recovers, and the two agree to leave RiverClan after she recovers and travel beyond the mountains, hoping to find new Clans or groups and observe them. Blue jokes around possibly joining one of them, and Bright laughs it off and tells her that no matter where they end up, he would always love her.
Blue and Bright stay in RiverClan for a few moons when Blue is declared recovered by Kestreldawn. They decide to depart for their future travels and tell Willowheart, where she agrees and wishes them farewell. She also tells the two that the apprentice ceremonies were about to begin, and if they wanted to stay for a while longer to watch them then they were able to. Blue asks who is being promoted, where Willowheart replies that the ceremony was for Flamepaw and Waterpaw. Blue asks Bright to stay and watch the ceremony, and he agrees.
Shortly after, Ashenstar gathers the cats of RiverClan for a Clan meeting, where the apprentice ceremonies would take place. Flamepaw received his warrior name, Flameshard, and Waterpaw received hers, Waterfall. The RiverClan cats cheer for the two new warriors before Ashenstar announces Blue's recovery and that she and Bright were to depart from the Clan to continue their journeys. The Clan cats wish the two loners farewell, and Flameshard shows appreciation for Blue, telling her that even in the darkest hours, he would always have her back, and that he hopes to meet up with her again. Blue smiles and agrees before she and her father depart for their travels, hoping to spend the next few moons preparing for their travels before they go beyond the mountains.
The Only Hope[]
Moons later, Blue and Bright are hunting throughout Clan territories in peace, hoping to stock up quickly before they travel across the mountains. After feeding themselves, they both take some prey into their mouths to carry with them during their travels. They pass through Clan camps and finally reach the mountains.
The two attempt to climb the mountain to no avail, as it was too steep than they imagined. Bright finds a shortcut to the top through a small, jagged ridge within the side of the mountain, and tries to climb up to it. However, when he finally rests his body atop the ridge, it quickly crumbles into rocks. Bright quickly uses his claws to keep himself supported, but jails, scratching down the mountain before sustaining an injury from a fall. Blue quickly attends to him, and the two agree that the mountains are too difficult to cross, and that they would either have to find away around it or stay. Bright agrees and the two work to try and find a loophole around the steep mountains, though they are unable to find a passage.
A group of rogues led by Blizzard approach the two as they are looking around and asks what they are doing in the territory. Bright explains himself, and tells the she-cat leader that they are trying to cross the mountains. Blizzard laughs and tells them that the mountains are too steep for Clan cats to cross, as their bodies aren't built for it. Bright is infuriated and asks Blizzard if she is mistaking him for a Clan cat, and Blizzard agrees, stating that she thought he was one at first. Bright disagrees with her and insists that he isn't a Clan cat, and that he would like some help in getting him and his daughter over the mountains. Blizzard agrees to helping them if they are able to complete some tasks for her rogue group, and the two agree.
The first task that the two are given is to interrupt one of Blizzard's rival groups, Panther's group. Blue, Bright, and several other members of Blizzard's group raid the party, taking their food supply to bring it back to their group. Their leader, Panther, is furious and vows revenge, as they were running low ever since the Battle of the Rogues had taken a toll on them. Blue confesses to Bright that night that she felt awful about Panther and her group's situation, as she is the one primarily involved in the circumstances that led to the Battle of the Rogues. Bright comforts her, saying that everything was going to be alright, and that she should put herself behind her.
Blue's next task is given to her a few days later to hunt with some other group members, Scorch and Marsh. While she is hunting, a member of Panther's group, Thistle, confronts Blue. Thistle tells her and the rest of the hunting party that he was sent by Panther to spy on them in revenge for them stealing their food stock, and overheard Blue confess that she was Ash to Bright, and blamed her for starting the Battle of the Rogues. Scorch and Marsh initially defend Blue, thinking that Thistle was lying in order to intimidate them, but Blue confesses that it was true. After she speaks what happened, Scorch and Marsh are furious with her and leave her behind to go back to camp. Thistle gets into a fight with her, leaving Blue badly injured, but she is able to escape and return back to the group's camp.
Back at Blizzard's group's camp, Scorch and Marsh are seen talking to the group alongside Blizzard, speaking of the events of the hunting session. When she returns, they are shocked that she was alive, last noting that she was attacked by Thistle, and they left her behind. Bright defends Blue in front of the group, turning the rest of the rogue group against them. Blizzard declares Blue and Bright as exiled from the group, but Hail believes that they should be executed for their crimes. The rest of the group calls for their execution, and Blizzard agrees. Blue and Bright fail to distract the group as they attempt to flee, and are chased by rogues throughout the mountains.
Blue and Bright attempt maneuvers to escape them, including hiding in trees or behind rocks to trick them. After being caught several times, the two finally run up a hill and escape the rogues, alluding to the beginning of Shadows of SkyClan.
The Raven's Revolt Arc[]
- "Not all leaders have the experience or morality to be one. You must use all of the skills you've learned in your life to lead your Clan, and it's okay that not everyone would be able to do that. But that does not mean one should suddenly decide to control the power in a Clan."
- —Bluestar Blue Raven, chapter ???
Bluestar gives the Wolves a quest to venture to ThunderClan to help their cats against the Raven's Revolt, which had been planned by their tyrannical leader, Ravenstar.
After the Wolves spend some time in ThunderClan, Bluestar expresses to Flameshard about joining them, for she is worried about their state with ThunderClan's slowly deteriorating leadership along with no updates or reports of what has happened to them. She leaves to search for the Wolves in ThunderClan, believing that they are in danger.
When Ravenstar temporarily leaves ThunderClan to get assistance from Loststar in ShadowClan, she joins Cobaltshine and the Wolves and helps plan the rest of the resistance against Ravenstar and Loststar. When Loststar brings his new deputy Galewind to the Clan to meet with Ravenstar and his deputy Webfoot, Bluestar and the others spy on the conversation and learn that Galewind is unqualified as a new warrior and that Loststar is planning for Ravenstar to execute to make Galewind the new leader to punish ShadowClan. She discusses with the rest of the group whether or not to kill Loststar first, but Cindershadow reminds her that it would have no effect, as Galewind would still become leader and Ravenstar would consider it a step done for him. They decide to kill Webfoot instead to leave the deputy spot for ThunderClan open, and Cobaltshine can take it, hoping to dismantle Ravenstar from his leadership as quick as possible. Cobaltshine kills Webfoot and takes the deputy spot by force, telling Ravenstar he has no other choice, where Ravenstar dismisses him and continues to ShadowClan as intended.
At a ShadowClan meeting, Ravenstar completes the bloody ceremony and kills Loststar as intended, slicing his throat then declaring the unqualified as the new deputy, sending the Clan into uproar. Bluestar and the rest of the group confront Ravenstar and begin a battle as Galewind leads ShadowClan away from the scene. Bluestar and the others work to kill Ravenstar twice with his two lives left. However, in the process, Bluestar loses one of her own lives.
Cobaltshine returns back to ThunderClan and declares himself as the new leader, Cobaltstar. Galewind is thankful to Cobaltstar and Bluestar for their efforts, and appoints Elmleaf to become leader instead of him, Elmstar, and decides to defect to ThunderClan out of respect for Cobaltstar. Cobaltstar appreciates Galewind's choice and allows him to serve ThunderClan. Bluestar returns to SkyClan, and Cobaltstar's mate, Lavenderdance, gives birth to Bluekit, whom Cobaltstar names after Bluestar, Flowerkit, and Darkkit. Bluestar hears word of their birth, and is honored that Cobaltstar named his eldest son after her.

Eclipse[]
In the epilogue, Flameshard is seen giving Bluestar a Clan patrol report.
The Sky of the Shattered[]

Rising[]
In the epilogue, Bluestar is seen leaving SkyClan to search for the Wolves in ThunderClan.
Blue Raven[]
Bluestar arrives at ThunderClan when Ravenstar temporarily leaves the Clan to get assistance from Loststar in ShadowClan. She decides to join the Wolves and Cobaltshine to fight against Ravenstar when he would return the next day. The ThunderClan members take Bluestar in and hide her in the queens' den, where she protects Lavenderdance.
Ravenstar arrives the following morning with Loststar, who brings his new deputy, Galewind, to meet up with Webfoot, Ravenstar's deputy, after the previous ShadowClan deputy, Iceface, was killed in a revolt. Bluestar, Cobaltshine, and the Wolves listen on to hear information and learn that Galewind had no interest in becoming deputy, though was appointed anyway since he had worked against Loststar, and becoming deputy was his punishment even though he was not actually qualified and was straight out of apprenticehood. Loststar was never officially given his lives as a leader, but planned to use his only life to make Galewind the ShadowClan leader to end the Clan's war against him and to cause Clan conflict. The group decides that the four will go back to ShadowClan in few day's time, where Ravenstar would kill Loststar in front of the Clan and declare Galewind as the leader. Ravenstar and Loststar discuss their leader duties for the rest of the night, while Webfoot mentors Galewind on how to be a leader in preparation for the bloody ceremony.
Bluestar, Cobaltshine, and the Wolves discuss whether or not they should kill Loststar. Bluestar thinks that they should kill Loststar before morning to interfere with their plans, but Cindershadow argues that the outcome of Galewind becoming the leader would still be the same, thus would have no different effect. They all eventually come to the agreement of killing Webfoot first, as ThunderClan would have no deputy and since Cobaltshine was eligible to become deputy, he could declare himself and fight against Ravenstar to keep the role.
Cindershadow ends up being the one to take Webfoot's life, slicing his throat and leaving them dead as him, the Wolves, Cobaltshine, and Bluestar camp out near the Clan, waiting for dawn. The following morning, Loststar and Ravenstar scramble, seeing Webfoot dead. Cobaltshine then comes in and declares himself the new deputy, as he's the best one eligible. Ravenstar and Cobaltshine get into a fight, though Ravenstar leaves halfway to go to ShadowClan with Loststar, abandoning the fight. Galewind is taken with them and is dragged by the neck to ShadowClan territory.
Bluestar, the Wolves, and Cobaltshine follow Ravenstar and Loststar, Cobaltshine demanding that Ravenstar make the announcement about him being the new deputy or at least choose one to lead over the Clan if he had no control. Ravenstar ignores him and the group secretly chases him to ShadowClan.
In ShadowClan territory, Loststar calls a Clan meeting, with Galewind and Ravenstar there with him. Loststar talks about his plan and then Ravenstar kills him in front of the Clan cats, declaring the unqualified Galewind as Galestar. Galewind refuses to take the name and declares himself as the warrior Galewind. Bluestar, the Wolves, and Cobaltshine arrive, where Bluestar tells Galewind to do what he wishes. Galewind says that he declares not to be the leader of ShadowClan, and wishes for an eligible cat to do so. Cobaltshine asks for Galewind to stall the Clan so they could properly deal with Ravenstar. Galewind agrees and does his best to take the Clan elsewhere, away from the battle, to have a meeting.
During the battle, the group learns that Ravenstar has two lives left, meaning that they would have to kill him twice. Bluestar, with seven lives left, demands that she be the one to primarily fight him, as the others only have one. They all partially agree. During the battle, Bluestar loses one of her seven lives left, leaving her with six.
Ravenstar is finally knocked down to his last life. Before the fight could continue, Cobaltshine demands that Ravenstar declare the new deputy of ThunderClan to replace him when he dies. Ravenstar tells him that he has not considered anyone since the death of Webfoot, where Cobaltshine tells him that he is eligible and that they needed to go back to ThunderClan territory before moonhigh. Ravenstar tells Cobaltshine that he would never be the new leader. Bluestar quickly ends Ravenstar's final life, leaving him dead.
Since ThunderClan has neither a deputy nor a leader, Cobaltshine is concerned and asks Bluestar what to do. Bluestar tells the rest of the group to go make sure that Galewind is okay and that a new leader of ShadowClan is declared before making their way back to ThunderClan.
Sometime after Cobaltstar's leader ceremony, Lavenderdance gives birth to Bluekit, who is named after Bluestar, Flowerkit, and Darkkit.
The Darkest Night Arc[]
- "As long as you've roamed this world, whether physical or in spirit, I have always been your prisoner."
- —Bluestar to Shadowstar The Final Trial, chapter ???
Bluestar talks to her siblings, Mistykit and Lightkit, from StarClan, and falls into a deep sleep, soothed after hearing them after a long time and connecting with her siblings. When she wakes up, she realizes she is not in SkyClan territory, and discovers she is in WindClan after talking with their medicine cat, Sunshine, and learns that Shadowstar had vowed revenge on WindClan if they did not take Bluestar prisoner, and Lionstar gave in after various threats. Bluestar is confused, as she believed Shadowstar was killed in the Dark Forest and had faded away forever, but Lionstar and Sunshine say otherwise, claiming that they have talked to him before while he threatened their Clan. She gets into an argument with Lionstar, who believes that the only way to appease Shadowstar and get him to leave the Clans along would be to take Bluestar's life, but Bluestar demands they do something else about Shadowstar's demands. Sunshine suggests that they can go to the Dark Forest to fight Shadowstar himself, but the two leaders think it is too risky at the moment.
Bluestar stays in WindClan, worried of what would happen if she returned to SkyClan while WindClan was still being threatened by Shadowstar. She assists Sageskip, Lionstar's mate, with her pregnancy when Sunshine received word from Shadowstar that he had allied with Sunclaw. After explaining the events of the Battle of the Brothers to Bluestar, she understands that Sunclaw can be just as much of a threat as Shadowstar is, and the two being allied does not make the situation any better.
Ripplethorn and Skyfoot, two WindClan warriors, attack Lionstar and Bluestar that night, their bodies being taken over by Shadowstar and Sunclaw. The two leaders fight them off, though each lose a life, and Ripplethorn and Skyfoot both retire from their injuries and out of fear afterwards. Spottedwing, a ThunderClan warrior, arrives, telling the two leaders that she has a message from Cobaltstar, wanting the two leaders to meet him in ThunderClan. Lionstar and Bluestar accept the offer and venture to ThunderClan.
On the way to ThunderClan, Bluestar is caught in a rockfall and loses a life. She is visited by Shadowstar after losing the life, who attempts to weaken her further, but she escapes and travels to StarClan, gathering some of her former allies to help march into the Dark Forest to defeat Shadowstar and his allies. Bluestar sends a message to Cobaltstar through dreams about the situation, and StarClan cats offer to guide him and other ThunderClan warriors to the afterlife for the battle.
Bluestar leads the charge to fight Shadowstar and kills him, watching his spirit fade as she wins the battle. Brightclaw guides Bluestar back to StarClan, where she gives one last goodbye to her deceased loved ones, promising that she will join them all one day. When Bluestar returns to the Clans, she is revered a hero for killing Shadowstar for a second time. She talks to Bluepaw, the son of Cobaltstar, and encourages him to follow his path, and is honored when Bluepaw says he wants to be like the leader he was named after before she returns to SkyClan.
Longer Overview
Prisoner[]
In the prologue, Bluestar is first seen talking to unknown cats from StarClan, who are confirmed eventually confirmed to be Mistykit and Lightkit, introducing themselves as Bluestar's deceased siblings who died along with Skyflower. She falls into a deep sleep talking to them, getting to know them and reconnecting with her parents. After awhile, she finally wakes up, though realizes that she is not in SkyClan territory and desperately looks around to try and get an idea of where she is.
When Bluestar wakes up, she is greeted by Sunshine, the medicine cat of WindClan. Bluestar asks her why she was captured and taken into WindClan, where Sunshine replies that Shadowstar had planned his revenge against his former Clan. In order to stop his plan, Shadowstar demanded the capture of Bluestar. Bluestar is confused, as she believed that he was killed in the Dark Forest, but Sunshine disagrees, as she heard the plan herself.
Bluestar eventually talks with Lionstar along with Sunshine to discuss the plan about Shadowstar. Bluestar and Lionstar try to come to an agreement about the situation, but keep arguing when it came to trying to decide what to do with Shadowstar, as Lionstar believed that his Clan could not stop Shadowstar and that taking Bluestar's life was the only way to appease him. Sunshine eventually suggests that the two could fight Shadowstar off by going into the Dark Forest, but Bluestar refuses, thinking that it would be too risky. Lionstar refuses as well, as he was on his last few lives and didn't want chaos to come to the Clan in case Shadowstar decided to attack the Clan.
Echoes[]
Bluestar is first seen thinking about the possible outcomes of what she and WindClan could do to fight off Lionstar, worrying about the current state of SkyClan since she was gone.
Near the end of the book, she and Lionstar talk with each other, where he mentions his mate Sageskip, who is near-term. Bluestar offers to take part in assisting her in case that Lionstar is busy, where he accepts, but tries not to sound forced towards her. During their discussion, Sunshine frantically bursts in, saying that she received a message from StarClan about Shadowstar.
The Fifth Star[]
After the birth of Lionstar and Sageskip's kits, Fernkit and Goldkit, Bluestar is seen assisting Sageskip. After Sunshine is finished discussing with Lionstar, Lionstar recaps for Bluestar, telling her that his half-brother Sunclaw has joined with Shadowstar and are attempting to kill her since Lionstar refused to do it for them. They get into an argument, and Sunshine orders the two to reconcile and tries to put them in a calm manner for discussion.
During the night, Lionstar and Bluestar are attacked by Ripplethorn and Skyfoot, two senior WindClan warriors who became possessed by Sunclaw to attack them. While trying to drive the two out, they both lose a life. After the battle, Sunshine heals the two warriors to ensure their survival. While the two survive, the injuries and fear from the battle made Sunshine force them to retire. Guilty, Bluestar pleads Skyfoot for forgiveness. Skyfoot forgives her and the two reconcile.
Sunshine talks with Bluestar and encourages her to travel back to SkyClan, believing that since Sunclaw and Shadowstar are after her life, then she would put the Clan in danger staying, using what happened with Ripplethorn and Skyfoot as an example. Lionstar offers to guide Bluestar back to her Clan, when Spottedwing enters, telling Lionstar that she had encountered Cobaltstar, who asked to deliver a message to the Clan, where she informs them that Cobaltstar has been made aware of her presence in WindClan and asks to meet up with her in ThunderClan for a meeting, and from there introduce her to his son, Bluepaw, whom he had named after her. Honored, Bluestar happily accepts and Lionstar requests for Spottedwing to guide her to ThunderClan territory. The two accept and leave for ThunderClan.
Rebellion[]
Bluestar nears ThunderClan with Spottedwing when rocks begin to fall around them. Knowing she has more lives left than Spottedwing, Bluestar orders her to go ahead and she will make her way back. Spottedwing agrees and leaves for ThunderClan without her, and Bluestar loses a life through the rockfall.
After losing a life, she is visited by Shadowstar, who attempts to weaken her further, but she escapes and travels to StarClan, wanting to create an army to fight against him. She finds Brightclaw, Skyflower, Lightkit, and Mistykit, and tells them about the situation. Brightclaw volunteers to fight against Shadowstar and orders Skyflower to stay behind with the kits. Skyflower agrees and Bluestar and Brightclaw gather StarClan cats willing to fight in the battle, including Featherblaze, Umberfur, Fernstar, Onetail, Foxfur, Tigerbelly, and Yellowshade.
Bluestar then sends a message to Cobaltstar telling him about the situation, and several other StarClan cats offered to guide him and his warriors to the Place of No Stars to fight Shadowstar. Cobaltstar accepts and his warriors temporarily join StarClan so the cats can guide them to the Place of No Stars, where they are confronted by Tatteredfur, one of Shadowstar's allies. After killing his spirit, Bluestar leads the charge to fight Shadowstar.
The Final Trial[]
Bluestar leads the warriors to charge into the Dark Forest after killing Tatteredfur, where they engage in a long battle against Shadowstar and his Dark Forest allies.
Bluestar divides the charge into several groups, unsure of how large Shadowstar's forces are. These groups combat Shadowstar's forces, and do quite well. However, they are quickly overwhelmed by the numbers, leaving Bluestar to escape the battle to find somewhere for the warriors to retreat without easily being seen after Onetail receives a wound. Sunwish tends to Onetail's wounds, but eventually Bluestar orders the two to retreat in order to prevent their deaths. Sunwish and Onetail agree and quickly return to StarClan.
After battling Dark Forest members, Bluestar confronts Shadowstar. Shadowstar gives a monologue about his wishes for the Clans, saying that all he wanted was for the Clans to unite, not be divided, and that if this is the place that he had earned, then he deserved his place. The two argue about Clan leadership before their battle begins. After Bluestar is wounded, Shadowstar attempts to drown her in Dark Forest water, but Bluestar pushes through and slits Shadowstar's throat, throwing his body into the Dark Forest water and drowning his spirit. Without a leader, the Dark Forest cats retreat, unsure of a new direction. Bluestar is guided back to StarClan by Brightclaw.
Bluestar takes some time to recover in StarClan, surrounded by her family. After hours of recovering, Skyflower speaks to her and tells her that it would be best for her to return to the world of the living, as she had cats to lead, and she could stay with StarClan when she was ready. Bluestar is appreciative of her mother's words and gives a farewell to her old allies, including showing forgiveness to Onetail, realizing that after the situation at the battle, she would hate to let him die. Onetail tells Bluestar that he had repented for his past mistakes, and that he and Fernstar made up with each other, now treating each other with respect. Bluestar is glad hearing his words and takes his apology before returning to the world of the living.
After returning back to the Clans, Bluestar is congratulated by the Clans and revered a hero for fighting in the Dark Forest against Shadowstar, removing the last of his influence from the Clans. Bluestar talks to Bluepaw, the son of Cobaltstar, and learns that Cobaltstar had named his son after her. Honored, she gets to know Bluepaw, who promises to her that he will become leader and be as great as his namesake. Bluestar honors his words and tells him that she thinks he would be a great leader, and encourages him to continue forward in the path as she and the SkyClan warriors return home.
Silence of the Sun Arc[]
- "I don't want to believe that it was purely the fault of Shadow. He was misguided. I truly believe that if he never encountered The Monsters, he would have been a great Stoneteller. I mourn the Shadow that once was. We all do."
- —Bluestar to the Tribe of Rushing Water Hounds of War, chapter ???
Featherflight tells Bluestar of a dangerous omen she has received of SkyClan going through dramatic changes, where Bluestar warns the Clan, concerned. At a Gathering, she talks with Bluepaw, now Blueheart, who has recently become a warrior. During the Gathering, all the other leaders report strange activity in their Clans, realizing she is not the only one, and the other Clans come to an agreement that there is something that is troubling them, and to stay on guard.
That night, SkyClan is attacked by a mysterious group that kills Flameshard. Verdantwind immediately advises her to appoint a new deputy when his body is brought back to the Clan, and Crimsonflower and Azuremoon immediately compete for the spot as deputy. After a discussion with the Clan, Bluestar chooses to appoint Crimsonflower as the new deputy of SkyClan.
After the battle, Bluestar sends her warriors on patrol, where Swanheart returns with a rogue, Wolf, and SkyClan takes him as prisoner. Wolf is pressured into speaking against his rogue group and tells the truth about the invasion against SkyClan, and that The Monsters were responsible for it, and that they were working with the apprentice of the Tribe of Rushing Water's Stoneteller. Bluestar wants to discuss this with the Stoneteller, and agrees to have Crimsonflower be temporary leader while she sets foot for the Tribe. She takes three of her grandchildren, Embernose, Stripedsky, and Briarwind, with her to accompany and represent her on the way to the Tribe,
When the four arrive at the Tribe's camp, they are questioned by several cats, but are eventually let in. They speak with the Stoneteller and explain what Wolf had told them, where the Stoneteller tells them that he had heard anything of his apprentice Shadow Cast By Sun doing such thing, but that he will look into it. Bluestar reconnects with Bright Cloud In the Sky while taking temporary residence in the Tribe, whom she learns is her foster mother.
At a Tribe meeting, Shadow is confronted with the allegations Bluestar told the Stoneteller, but he denies them and the situation is let go for the current moment. However, Bluestar and the Stoneteller are woken up by a prey-hunter, who notifies them that Shadow was spotted with rogues. Shadow is caught and confronted by the rest of the Tribe, and he tells the truth that he had been working with the Tribe, who promised him power. Shadow's sister, Linnaea That Grows Near The River, is disappointed in her brother for lying to the Tribe, and Bluestar backs her up, both wanting action to be taken against him.
Back at camp, Shadow is demoted from the Stoneteller's apprentice and the new apprentice role is given to Song of Morning Dove. Shadow brings his rogues closer to Tribe camp, initiating a battle. Bluestar tells Embernose, Stripedsky, and Briarwind to go back to SkyClan camp and bring warriors to assist in the upcoming battle. During the battle, Venom, the leader of The Monsters, recognizes Bluestar, and it is revealed that Raven, the father of Shadowstar, was associated with The Monsters through his own group, The Hounds. He is dumbfounded that Bluestar, as Raven and Shadowstar's descendant, would be working against them as part of the Clans.
SkyClan finally arrives at the battle and the rogues lose their numbers quick as Burntail leads most of them to a dog pack, where they are torn to shreds. Venom orders the living members of his group to retreat as Linnaea confronts Shadow and mortally wounds her brother. Bluestar stands over Shadow along with Linnaea as he speaks his dying words, where he says that one day, the stars will tell the Clans their lies. Confused, Bluestar keeps note of Shadow's words, interpreting it as an omen.
When Bluestar arrives in SkyClan, she talks to Featherflight's apprentice, Nightpaw, about Shadow's words. Featherflight officially analyzes it after Nightpaw is confused, and tells Bluestar to pay attention to all omens SkyClan receives, for she believes that there is another threat lurking in somewhere they trust and waiting to strike.
Longer Overview
A Dangerous Vision[]
When Featherflight tells Bluestar of a dangerous omen that she has received of SkyClan going through dramatic changes, Bluestar is concerned and warns the Clan. She is nervous about the outcome, and hopes that things will be alright in the end.
At a Gathering, Bluestar is seen talking with Blueheart, who has recently become a warrior. She congratulates Cobaltstar's son, and talks to Blueheart what it is like to mentor an apprentice after he expresses interest, mentioning Softpaw and Foxfur.
During the Gathering, each of the other Clan leaders report strange activity in their Clans. Elmstar mentions strange noises that were heard in the Clan during night, and that ShadowClan could not track down the source of the noise. Lionstar talks about how more cats have been getting ill in WindClan, and Sunshine could not find out the cause of it. Arcticstar reports that in RiverClan, the water has been at lower levels than usual. Cobaltstar mentions that ThunderClan's medicine cat, Brokentalon, has been unable to receive any more prophecies or omens. Bluestar immediately steps in and speaks of the omen Featherflight has given her about SkyClan going through dramatic changes, believing that the strange activity may have something to do with the omen. Featherflight is asked to repeat the omen again by Elmstar, who analyzes the omen, and believes it to be a strange force.
After the Gathering, Bluestar is seen again in SkyClan after Flameshard warns her that the Clan is being invaded by an unknown group, who are later revealed to be The Monsters.
Fury of the Shadow[]
Bluestar participates in the battle to drive away The Monsters. However, within the battle, Flameshard is killed, and she brings back his body, where he is mourned by the Clan.
Verdantwind immediately states that a new deputy needs to be appointed as soon as possible. Bluestar determines that the most eligible are Crimsonflower and Azuremoon, and the two immediately begin to compete for the spot. Verdantwind immediately ceases their fighting, reminding the two of the Battle of the Brothers and how it ended up for Sunclaw. The two reconcile, but are obviously disappointed in one another. Cindershadow and his Wolves propose that Bluestar should make the final choice, for it is reliant on her that she does so. Bluestar agrees and after a Clan debate, Crimsonflower is appointed as deputy.
Bluestar sends warriors on patrol to try and figure out who killed Flameshard. Swanheart returns from the patrol with a prisoner, who is revealed to be a rogue, Wolf. Bluestar questions Wolf, wanting answers to who killed Flameshard, and if he were associated with the group who caused it. Wolf initially denies it, but after pressure from SkyClan, Wolf reveals the truth that he is part of The Monsters, and they were told to assassinate the leader and deputy of SkyClan. Bluestar is baffled and asks for more information, where Wolf reveals that they are working with the future Stoneteller of the Tribe of Rushing Water.
Crimsonflower offers to be a temporary leader after Bluestar talks to her, thinking of setting foot for Tribe of Rushing Water. The two talk it out, and Bluestar agrees to take her and several warriors with her to the Tribe to find out more information. She takes Embernose, Stripedsky, and Briarwind with her and ventures for the Tribe.
Vagabonds[]
Bluestar, Embernose, Stripedsky, and Briarwind travel throughout the mountains, looking for the Tribe of Rushing Water, when they approach their territory. They are questioned by several Tribe cats, but once they reveal who they are and answer some questions, the Tribe cats deem them safe, and Bluestar and the accompanying warriors talk to the Stoneteller of the Tribe.
Once they meet with the Stoneteller, the warriors explain everything that has happened, including Wolf's words about the Stoneteller's apprentice sending warriors out to assassinate SkyClan's leader and deputy. The Stoneteller expresses condolences for SkyClan's tragedy, but tells the truth that he has not heard of his apprentice, Shadow Cast By Sun, working with rogues, but that he will look into it. He offers the four to stay for a while as he sends some of the Tribe members to investigate the incident. They agree, and take temporary residence in the Tribe.
The four go around the Tribe, getting to know the members. Bluestar notices that one of the elders, Bright Cloud In the Sky, has a familiar scent, and talks to her. When talking to her, Sky explains that she knew her father when he was a loner, where he asked for her to foster her. Sky is proud of how far Bluestar has come, thinking that she and Bright may have moved on or died. Bluestar explains what has happened since she rejoined SkyClan, and Sky is proud hearing her accomplishments.
The Stoneteller calls the Tribe for a meeting and properly introduces Bluestar and her warriors, with Shadow Cast By Sun at his side. The Stoneteller confronts Shadow and tells him of the allegations after informing the Tribe, and Shadow denies them, After arguing for some time, the situation is let go, but the Stoneteller keeps in mind of it. The Stoneteller invites Bluestar and the warriors to his den, where they piece information together using information they gathered about Shadow at the Tribe meeting. The Stoneteller informs them that he will have the Tribe members keep a closer eye on Shadow, and feels that most will after the accusation against him at the meeting. The SkyClan cats agree and reside in the Tribe for some time.
When Bluestar wakes up the following morning, she is the first to hear about from the Stoneteller that a prey-hunter has spotted Shadow with a group of rogues a bit past camp.
Slaughter[]
Bluestar and the Tribe quickly investigate the rumor and find Shadow with The Monsters. Shadow, unable to hide what he was caught doing, explains why he was working with The Monsters. Shadow's sister, Linnaea, is disappointed in him for lying to the Tribe, and Bluestar backs her up. Shadow refuses to step away with the rogues, believing they would bring better for the Tribe like they promised. The Monsters help Shadow flee from the conflict, and Bluestar returns to camp with the rest of the Tribe.
Bluestar participates in the Tribe meeting that occurs shortly after they come back. The Stoneteller is urged to take a new apprentice, and he agrees that he must do so, but that he can't take away his focus from his current apprentice allying with rogues. Bluestar offers to take control of managing the Tribe and their plans against Shadow while the Stoneteller picks a new apprentice. The Stoneteller agrees and Bluestar helps him choose a new apprentice, Song of Morning Dove.
A few nights later, several prey-hunters wake Bluestar and the Stoneteller, telling that Shadow and his rogues have came closer to camp, and that action must be taken immediately. The Stoneteller immediately sends more prey-hunters and cave-guards to fight the rogues, and Bluestar orders Embernose, Stripedsky, and Verdantwind to return to SkyClan and bring Clan warriors to the Tribe to help battle the rogues. After the warriors agree, Bluestar helps lead Tribe cats to battle.
Hounds of War[]
Bluestar participates in the battle against The Monsters. After Linnaea talks with Shadow, furious for what he has done, the leader of The Monsters, Venom, recognizes Bluestar, saying he has heard about her before. Bluestar reminds him that she is a descendant of Shadowstar, and it is revealed that Shadowstar's father, Raven, was part of The Monsters after forming his own group, The Hounds, and merging Beast's group with his. He is dumbfounded that their descendant would be fighting against them, but shakes it off.
When SkyClan finally arrives at the battle, the rogues quickly begin to lose their numbers. Burntail leads most of The Monsters into a dog pack, where they are torn to shreds. Seeing them lose their numbers, Venom orders the group to retreat. Shortly after Venom retreats, Linnaea kills Shadow, ending the battle.
Bluestar goes up to Shadow as he dies, where Shadow tells her that the stars will one day tell the Clans their lies. Bluestar is confused at first, but after Shadow dies, she keeps note of it. She returns to the Tribe and bids them farewell before returning to SkyClan.
When Bluestar returns to SkyClan, she talks to Featherflight's new apprentice, Nightpaw, and tells her about the omen. Nightpaw is confused about the omen, seeing multiple interpretations, and calls Featherflight over to confirm. Featherflight analyzes the omen and tells Bluestar that SkyClan must pay close attention to all omens received, for another threat may be lurking in where they trust.

When they arrive at ThunderClan, they ambush Firestar and Darkfire. She is the first to realize that Firestar is dead despite him supposed to be having nine lives, where Darkfire confesses that he made sure Firestar never earned them so he could become leader quicker. Darkfire leaves to obtain his nine lives without a medicine cat, and Bluestar assures the group that he will not receive his nine lives. However, Thunderstorm is insistent on Blueheart and his supporters leaving, and starts a battle. Bluestar participates in the battle.

Relationships[]
Brightclaw[]
Bluestar cared for Brightclaw, though sometimes she saw him more like a mentor than a father than her because of his protective behavior.[68] During her youth, especially her apprenticehood, she looked up to his abilities[69] and thought that if he were that strong, he would never die[70]. However, when she joined SkyClan, she began to question some of his decisions and actions, such as why he chose to leave. When he dies in SkyClan's Dragon, she mourns for him. Bluestar is sometimes seen talking to him from StarClan.[71]
Skyflower[]
Bluestar wishes she got to know her when she was young,[72] and she sometimes talks with her spirit from StarClan.[73] She thinks that if Skyflower still lived before she and her father rejoined SkyClan, that they would be extremely close.[74]

Onetail[]
Bluestar did not hold Onetail in high regard, but did not necessarily dislike him.[75] She initially doubted his innocence when he professed it,[76] but did not forgive herself for moons after finding out the truth that he was innocent.[77] She suspected that Onetail was formerly in love with her mother[78], but refused to see him as a fatherly figure despite how much he tried to present himself as one.[79] She initially thought of him as manipulating her for his own wishes[80] and sometimes found him hard to understand,[81] but did not use them to show hatred or grudges.[82] She also believes that in another timeline, he would've been like a second father to her.[83] During the battle against Shadowstar in the Dark Forest, Onetail is gravely injured, and she feels sympathy for him. After the battle, she talks to Onetail, saying that after she saw him nearly fade that she couldn't leave him to die, no matter what her feelings toward him were. The two officially reconciled, and though Bluestar and Onetail are still not close, she does not view him with hatred or hold a grudge.
Fernstar[]
Bluestar initially trusted Fernstar, though over time found her to be a bit strange. She believed it was odd that it was easy for her to gain Fernstar's trust, and that Fernstar, as a leader, was flawed. Bluestar respected Fernstar's decision to make her deputy, and was appreciative that she chose her over her Clanmates. When learning about Fernstar's part in Skyflower's death and her early life as a kit, she secretly harbors a bit of distrust in her for making Brightclaw wanting to free. She was able to realize Fernstar's flaws, and forgave her for what she had done, but still was not appreciative of her doings.

Bluestar considered Cobaltstar an ally and was willing to fight alongside him to dismantle Ravenstar, and supported him becoming ThunderClan's next leader. Bluestar was also seen shielding Lavenderdance while she was pregnant from battle, urging her to stay behind and focus on herself during the Raven's Revolt.
Bluestar, Flowerbloom, and Darkstar[]
Bluestar sees Cobaltstar's son as a worthy cat, and supported him when he became leader. Bluestar knows he was named after her, and honors it. Bluestar guides him from StarClan and helps him make the right decisions following the tyranny of his brother.
Bluestar believes that Flowerbloom is a worthy warrior, and has done well to survive the hardships against Darkstar. She honors her for being resilient.
Despite his actions, Bluestar feels sorry for Darkstar, and wonders if he could have ended up a great warrior had he not been influenced by the Dark Forest.
Lionstar and Sunshine[]
Bluestar initially disliked Lionstar and Sunshine and saw them like enemies for taking her from SkyClan territory in order to give into Shadowstar's threats. However, she eventually warmed up to them and fought by their side in battle, making them allies.
Bright Cloud In the Sky[]
Bluestar was shown to be affectionate towards Sky, and appreciative of what she had done, even if she was too young to remember. Before she returned back to SkyClan, she touched noses with Sky and told her to stay safe, even in her elderly years.
Killed victims[]
This list shows the victims Bluestar has killed:

Ceremonies[]
| Fernstar: | Old warriors have returned to us. Brightclaw has been missing since the birth of Bluekit, but has finally returned to us. He is now taking on his old warrior name. Unfortunately, he is getting older and can't fend for himself well as much as he used to, so he must be placed in the elders den. Bluekit has returned to us now, but as Umberfur said, he dropped the kit. |
| Blue: | (to Brightclaw, while laughter ensues) I thought you didn't like that joke. Whenever Umberfur brought it up, you groaned. |
| Brightclaw: | If the Clan likes it, then I'll learn to love it. |
| Fernstar: | Blue has no warrior name for herself yet. But since her father has rejoined the Clan, she will be receiving her warrior name. Shortly after, we'll let her take some time to explore the Clan, and will assign her an apprentice. Blue, on the night you went missing I looked up at the radiant moon, and it almost felt like I could feel your presence. I took that as a sign that you died along with Skyflower, and when we couldn't find you I was worried sick for moons. But now that you've returned, I want to give you a name that reminds me of the day that you have triumphantly returned from. And for that, I will call you Blueshadow. |

Trivia[]
Interesting Facts[]
- Bluestar resembles her mother, Skyflower.[140]
- Bluestar was named by Skyflower, and Brightclaw decided to keep her name that way in memory of Skyflower.[141]
- Which was hypocritical of him, since Brightclaw renames Bluekit to Blue when she is a loner to signify that she is no longer a Clan cat, thus going against it. However, it was only a minor change to her name, still keeping the suffix Skyflower had chosen for her.
- Bluestar is one of the three leaders to have had kits during their leadership, the others being Lionstar and Cobaltstar.
- Bluestar is the only female leader among the three to have had kits during their leadership.
- Bluestar shares similarities with her great-grandfather, Shadowstar:
- Both were the only one of their siblings to survive up to warriorhood. Bluestar's siblings, Lightkit and Mistykit, died shortly after birth along with their mother, Skyflower. Shadowstar's siblings, Nightmare, Sage, and Ebony, died as their mother, Wishdream, then Wish, ventured them to WindClan.
- Both were exceptionally bonded to one parent who raised them. Bluestar was closely bonded with her father, Brightclaw, while Shadowstar was closely bonded with his mother, Wishdream.
- Both were originally loners before entering the Clans. While Bluestar was born in SkyClan, she was raised as a loner with little to no ties of the Clans until later when she and her father rejoined. Shadowstar was originally born as a loner named Shadow, and his father, Raven, was said to be the brother of a Clan member.
- Bluestar has the blood of WindClan and Reborn BloodClan due to her ancestor, Shadowstar, being formerly of both Clans. She has loner and rogue blood from him as well. Depending on if Raven went to the Clans or joined another group, she would technically have blood from them as well.[142]
- Bluestar believes that Blueheart has the potential to become a future ThunderClan leader, and encourages him to push forward to become one.[143]
- When Blue and Bright took temporary residence in RiverClan to after fleeing from the Battle of the Rogues, Blue developed a small crush on Flamepaw, an apprentice. Eventually, when Flamepaw became a warrior, Flameshard, he joined SkyClan in search of a better life, and even congratulated Blue on her return to SkyClan. However, Bluestar sees Flameshard as a close ally, and Flameshard feels the same way towards her.
- Bluestar was given the 'blue' prefix at birth from her blue fur[144][145] and the 'shadow' suffix from the moon that Fernstar saw the night she had disappeared[146] as well as her strategy of staying hidden while hunting.[147]
- According to Special:LongPages, Bluestar is the longest article on the Warriors OCs Wiki, with over 100K bytes.
- Bluestar is a Nebelung cat.[148]
Author Statements[]
- Her alias, The Radiant Moon, comes from the System of a Down song Spiders.[149]
- Bluestar was originally going to be given the warrior name Bluepool, but the name was changed to Blueshadow to better suit her battle tactics and allude to Shadowstar's importance to her.[150]
- According to Adrestia, the hardest thing to keep track of is character's ages, and Bluestar's is no different, as her age had to be recalculated several times to make factual sense and rule out any inconsistencies.[151]
- When calculating her age in Hounds of War, she was declared to be 111 moons (9.25 years). Bluestar came to SkyClan when she was around 35 moons old, and mentored both Softpaw and Foxfur. However, she was only able to complete Foxfur's training. She only mentored Softpaw for around three moons before his death and mentored Foxfur for a complete six moons, putting her at 44 moons at the time she became deputy and during the events of Shadowstar's first invasion on SkyClan. She disappears for 15 moons before returning to SkyClan, where she became leader after the battle against Shadowstar, putting her age at 59 moons. She had her kits approximately four moons later and they age continuously throughout the Secret of the Wind arc. Because her kits are 43 moons old in The Final Trial, it puts her age at 106 moons in that book. The events of the Silence of the Sun arc occur five moons later, putting her at 111 moons as of the final book of the arc.
- Adrestia has plans of killing off Bluestar, but isn't exactly sure how to execute them yet. She plans to have it be a high emotional impact, and other books would be told mostly in the point-of-view of Blueheart or another character that she has not decided on yet.[152]
- Adrestia thinks that if Blue and Bright did not return to the Clans and instead wandered past the mountains, they would have probably joined a Tribe, most likely the Tribe of Rushing Water.[153]
Mistakes[]
- In the first chapter of Shadows of SkyClan, Umberfur tells Blue that the last time he saw her he was a kit. It has since been changed to give correct information, with Umberfur telling Blue that he last saw her when she was a kit, not him.
- Ironically, Blue and Umberfur most likely have never met each other up until that point, though Umberfur was aware of her existence. This may hint to more information that is currently unknown about Skyflower's death and Brightclaw's departure from SkyClan that is to be explored in the future.
- It was mistakenly put that Bluestar had killed Thunderstorm, where in reality Featherflight killed her by feeding her poison.
