"Thank you, Bluestar. I won't ever forget your sacrifice and all you've done for me. My father gave me your name, but you gave me a legacy to look up to, and now I have a legacy to make. I thank you for all you've done to me. Please take your rest. You have done well for SkyClan, and I'll be sure to do just as great for ThunderClan.
Blueheart speaking to Bluestar as he receives his nine lives in The Last Promise

Bluestar is a gallant, blue tom with blue eyes.

Bluestar is the current leader of ThunderClan in the lake territories. He was born as Bluekit to Cobaltstar and Lavenderdance along with his sister Flowerkit and his brother Darkkit. He was the firstborn of the two, and was named after Bluestar of SkyClan. He became an apprentice under the name Bluepaw and was assigned as Silvershadow's apprentice. After his apprenticeship, he received his warrior name, Blueheart. Blueheart mentored Dawnstreak and took on a mate, Snowfrost. Blueheart fought in the silent battle, where he was appointed deputy afterward by Cobaltstar due to Goldenstorm's death. However, after his father's death, Blueheart was exiled by the Clan by Firestar, and lived as a loner for several moons before coming in contact with SkyClan, where he was able to receive help from Bluestar and SkyClan, whom despite his and her Clan's attempts, risks her last few lives to help him.

After the death of Firestar during his invasion on ThunderClan, Darkfire quickly appointed himself as leader and he and his mate and deputy, Thunderstorm, attempted to exile Blueheart once again, though Blueheart resists. Blueheart participated in the battle against Darkstar and kills him along with his sister Flowerbloom. However, the fight against Snakestar gave Bluestar wounds that would cost her her life. After Bluestar passes away, Blueheart returns to ThunderClan and goes with Brokentalon to receive his nine lives, where he becomes the new leader of ThunderClan, Bluestar, and appoints Leafheart as his deputy. Snowfrost has his kits, Skykit and Brightkit, whom he names after Bluestar's parents, Brightclaw and Skyflower, in thanks for assisting them in the battles against Darkstar and Snakestar. He also adopts Darkstar's and Thunderstorm's kits, Ivykit, Silverkit, and Lightkit after Redpelt did not want to continue fostering them.

The Silent Battle[]

A timeskip of 35 moons has occurred, and Blueheart has become a fine warrior of ThunderClan. Blueheart took on a mate, Snowfrost, and mentored Dawnstreak, one of the kits of Flowerbloom and Maplespot.

During the night, ThunderClan is suddenly attacked by a strange force. In a hurry, Cobaltstar sends his warriors to fight in the battle. Cobaltstar loses several lives during the battle and is treated by Brokentalon and his apprentice, Ashenpaw, though remains severely wounded and is forced to retreat. Goldenstorm takes over, and Blueheart ends up discovering that his brother Darkfire and his mentor Fireclaw are the masterminds of the attack. Blueheart confronts Darkfire along with Flowerbloom, asking the two what they have done. Darkfire and Fireclaw explain that the Dark Forest's true leader had spoken and mentored the two in order to orchestrate the battle. Flowerbloom joins the fight and fights alongside her brother. Goldenstorm pins down Fireclaw in a fight and threatens him, though Darkfire attacks Goldenstorm, slicing his throat.

Lavenderdance notices her kits fighting and immediately joins to defend them. She screams at Darkfire for what he had done, and that she would never want her kits to fight like this, and is angrier at her half-brother, believing that he had manipulated her son. Fireclaw argues that Darkfire had willingly done so and begins a fight between the two sides. During the battle, Darkfire would strike a fatal blow at his sister, but Lavenderdance quickly pushes her out of the way, and Darkfire kills his mother instead. From being pushed away from the strike, Flowerbloom is able to flee the scene.

With their deputy dead and Blueheart devastated at the death of his mother, ThunderClan has no choice but to stop the battle before injuries occur. Blueheart notifies Cobaltstar of Goldenstorm's death, and Cobaltstar immediately forces the battle to stop with further threats to Darkfire and Fireclaw, declaring the two exiled. Fireclaw and Darkfire decide that a debate is irrelevant and unnecessary, and leave the scene, accepting their exile.

Blueheart helps other warriors gather the living and the dead and bring them back to camp. Several warriors and the deputy had died, and Flowerbloom was missing. Cobaltstar is furious over his daughter's disappearance and vows for ThunderClan to have their revenge. To help with this mission of his, Cobaltstar appoints Blueheart as his new deputy.

Blueheart adjusts to his new life as deputy, leading patrols. Cobaltstar insists that patrols should spend more time near the borders than usual due to the threats of Fireclaw and Darkfire, and to report any information to him instantly. Blueheart agrees, but notices that Cobaltstar's mental state seems to be deteriorating due to the death of Lavenderdance, knowing how much he loved her. Blueheart wonders how the Clan will continue to function from there, and if Darkfire and Fireclaw will show their faces again, and what their true motives are.

Star of Night[]

Cobaltstar speaks with his son, confessing that he has been feeling uneasy ever since the events of the silent battle. Blueheart assures his father that everything will be alright, and he will support him like both a son and a deputy. Cobaltstar thanks his son for his reassurance as the two continue their activities.

While on patrol, Blueheart believes he spots a rogue similar to Fireclaw. He sends warriors to grab Cobaltstar and attacks the cat. Fireclaw is revealed to have been wanting to attack the patrol, waiting for his chance to strike. Fireclaw and Blueheart fight each other when Cobaltstar joins the battle and attacks Fireclaw, screaming at him for ruining his Clan and his life. Darkfire defends Fireclaw and wounds his father. Blueheart rushes to Cobaltstar's side but is thrown off by Darkfire as Fireclaw steps in and rips open Cobaltstar's stomach, taking away all of his nine lives. Blueheart watches in shock, knowing he will have to become leader after the tragedy.

After seeing Blueheart's state after the leader's death, Fireclaw claims that he will no longer become leader, and he declares him and Darkfire as returning members of ThunderClan. Blueheart defends himself, claiming himself as the rightful leader of ThunderClan, but Fireclaw refuses to listen to him. Fireclaw and Darkfire had brought along Snapdragon, a rogue, to attack Blueheart to distract him as they go to camp. Blueheart tries to flee the battle with Snapdragon in order to quickly return to his Clan, but fears that Snapdragon would threaten the Clan further.

After he kills the rogue, Blueheart returns to camp to find out that Fireclaw had taken over ThunderClan, declaring his new name as Firestar, and appointed Darkfire as his deputy. Blueheart says that it isn't fair that his brother got to be deputy over him, as Darkfire misses the qualification that one apprentice must be mentored. Firestar quickly silences Blueheart and declares him a traitor for coming back on Clan land he clearly was exiled from, and kicks him out of camp. As he is kicked out of camp, Firestar declares Snakestar as the true leader of the Clans, and that he hopes that all Clans will accept Snakestar as their true leader. Snakestar speaks to Blueheart, demanding that he give up his deputy position and announce it to the Clan, and announces that he has no choice but to give it up to Darkfire as he leaves. Blueheart decides to get help by travelling to SkyClan to receive assistance.

Blood Moon[]

Blueheart arrives at SkyClan borders and encounters Briarwind, where he asks to speak with Bluestar. He is eventually let in, where he speaks with the leader, and Bluestar asks about what had happened to ThunderClan. Blueheart explains what happened, emphasizing on his exile and asks for help. Bluestar agrees and prepares to take some SkyClan warriors with her, with Crimsonflower staying behind to lead the Clan while she is gone. Blueheart advises Bluestar to stay in SkyClan since she is on her last two lives, but Bluestar says that she wants to help him. Featherflight and Nightfeather try to convince her once again, but Bluestar says that if her time is up, she wants to die in another honorable battle. Realizing that they aren't going anywhere, the Clan lets their leader go with Blueheart, and they take several SkyClan warriors with them.

The group then ambushes ThunderClan in secret, coming as much of a shock to the other Clan members. During the battle, Blueheart kills Firestar. Waiting for him to be revived, the Clan then realizes that Firestar never received his nine lives. Darkfire confesses to purposefully keeping him from doing so in order for him to become leader quicker. Brokentalon refuses to accompany Darkfire to get his nine lives but Darkfire goes anyway, believing that he would never receive his nine lives from StarClan. Before Darkfire leaves, he appoints Thunderstorm as his deputy and she serves as his temporary leader. Thunderstorm refuses to keep Blueheart in the Clan much to his pleading, and demands that the SkyClan warriors leave. Blueheart refuses, and a battle ensues.
