Barkfern is a brown she cat with dark brown stripes and a white chest with ice blue eyes.
Barkfern was a ThunderClan medicine cat who served under Bramblestar and Squirrelflight. She was born to Gravelblaze and Honeyleaf as Barkkit, along with her littermate Leafkit. Barkkit was interested in medicine at a young age, and chose to become a medicine cat apprentice with Alderheart as her mentor, becoming Barkpaw. After her training, she earned her full medicine cat name and became Barkfern. When SkyClan had no medicine cat successor, Barkfern stayed there temporarily.
When she returned, Barkfern realized that Alderheart was growing old and needed to retire to the elders' den. Barkfern took an apprentice Cloverpaw. He later became Cloverstorm, one of ThunderClan’s most famous medicine cats. Barkfern continued to serve her Clan as a medicine cat.
