AppleClan is one of the four clans present in Rotting Flower. AppleClan is the main clan. The other three are SunClan, SwampClan, and FireClan.
Summary[]
AppleClan was the third clan founded after SwampClan and SunClan. The clan was founded by Desertstar, a former kittypet from the town, which at the time was small and humble. She wanted her clan to be special, and decided that AppleClan would be more spiritual than the other clans.
After a few years both their second leader and deputy were taller than most cats, and they rationalized that the most important cats were closest to StarClan. Ironically, medicine cats do not need to be super tall since the medicine cats from other clans could reach StarClan regardless of their height. It is still preferred that medicine cats be taller than average though.
After a few generations, a family of grey cats started to have the tall genes pop up more and more, so the clan was run by them for a long time.
One of these cats was Cliffstar. Cliffstar's rule was tyrannical and his son, the deputy, was too scared to do anything about it. The cats rebelled though, and Spiderlight finally became deputy and later leader after killing Cliffstar.
Under Spiderstar's rule, cats were having kits all the time, and AppleClan became the most populated out of the three clans. Spiderstar introduced the Third In Command position after realizing that only having 2 cats in charge of over 60 was really hard. His first Third In Command was Flowerfoot.
During the time that Flowerfoot was deputy, Dawnstar founded FireClan. Spiderstar decided to have an alliance with them since he was mad at both SunClan and SwampClan. AppleClan and FireClan took out a pretty good chunk of both SunClan and SwampClan.
Later, a famine happened, and the clan's population tanked. Instead of preserving the food left though, AppleClan tried to solve this by having more kits to make up for all the lost warriors. The other two clans affected by the drought actually rationed their food and stopped having kits, so after a few moons, they were back to normal. AppleClan became a laughing stock at gatherings.
Height Hierarchy[]
The tallest people in the clan are the closest to the stars, therefore being holy and more connected to StarClan. The clan is divided in three ranks.
The Expendables: These warriors are below 20 cm tall when fully grown. They are used as meat shields for the elites. They never get an apprentice unless there are extreme circumstances. The Expendables live the shortest lives compared to other warriors.
The Average People: These warriors are anywhere from 21 cm to 29 cm. They rarely get apprentices unless they are highly skilled. Their lives are somewhat valuable to AppleClan. Most warriors fall into this category.
The Elites: These warriors are 30 cm and above. They are the closest to StarClan, and are highly valued. A tall new warrior is given an apprentice as soon as possible so that way they have a chance to be the leader or deputy. The Elites live the longest since they are well guarded by the shortest people of the clan. They are also given the most herbs when they are sick or injured, and the most food during a famine.

Mystery Leader 🤪
Rushstar: Before my online name was Rushie Cat, it was Rushwind Why and she was going to be my sona. I decided not to do that and made her a leader since she wasn't actually going to be used for anything.
Medicine Cats[]
Smokyshell: I love him
Primrosetuft: She's so slay
Squirrelstripe: Squirrelstripe is a brown tabby tom with white markings and yellow eyes. He trained as a warrior, but one day he accidentally killed a SunClan warrior. He was so traumatized by this, he decided to train as a medicine cat, so he could help heal cats instead of hurt them.
Lightwave: The AppleClan medicine cat during Rotting Flower. She was born as a loner. Lightwave joined the clan during the famine.
...
Caterpillarpelt: she's evil and poisons people she doesn't like
Trivia[]
- The height hierarchy was inspired by The Tallest from Invader Zim
- Also I needed a reason for Brownstripe to be deputy because as I was developing the story I was like "there is NO WAY this guy would want that or even be chosen to be deputy in the first place." I didn't want to do a prophecy either because I hate those. Had to give him a growth spurt LOL
- At the time, he was supposed to be the next leader cause the original leader before Rushstar was Brownstar. That's been retconned since Brownstar was only supposed to be the most average guy ever (literally just someone to fill up the leader position before her 😭)
- The famine happened because I didn't want there to be a million murder suspects. (Rotting Flower is supposed to be a murder mystery but not rlly idk, might make it really obvious who it is, depends on the direction I go)
